No reply after money transfer for small gold items.

Forgive me if I’m being impatient or confused I secured and reserved a purchase for Friday I kept to my word and kept in contact, I transferred £112 for two 1 gram assayed bars at 6am on Friday, the member read the message and hasn’t been in contact or online since, they have 65 reputation points but only one trading point I overlooked it as they are a gold member, am I over worrying and being too paranoid haha?

Hi Scaff, sure everything will be alright mate. Hopefully the seller is just busy, albeit annoying that they should respond to you, as you have given them the money.

Easier said than done but try and relax and sure everything will be alright. Got everything crossed for you :)

Before getting heated I would give them till close of play Monday, which unless stated otherwise is when in theory they should be sending you confirmation of postage by.

Sorry and I’m not getting heated I just haven’t had simple confirmation of Payment that’s what I thought any of us could simply ask, thank you for your reply and reassurance.

Ah no I didn’t mean to say you were, i simply meant “before taking it further”.

Poor choice of words on my part. Hope it works out for you 👍

Oh no hope it works out. 65 reputation points would be a little low for me to want to deal with, i know the forum is anonymous but those with 1000 plus points tend to be regular members who would want to protect their reputation.

Im sure it’s just an honest mistake though, they may have just forgot or perhaps as mentioned before they are already on the way to you. Really hope it works out

What would be the process if things don’t pan out on here? I’m pretty new to here so would be nice to know for future reference as I’m getting into gold and silver. I’ve made some purchases on here already with some relatively new members so I’m sure things will work out for you.

My tuppence worth. Was any timescale mentioned when purchasing regarding posting? If not personally, I would wait until after postman had passed by my door tomorrow then pm seller again. Then if seller was on forum or read your pm and didn't reply, I would have no problem in naming and shaming them.  All the Best J.

If it helps I only have 50 Rep but have accumulated 30 trading feed backs over a short space of time. I was also weary when dealing with people who had low trading feedback but I went on how their communication was and if I felt reassured I'd go ahead with the transaction. I have also sent more than I should of to one member who happily sent it straight back! so I do feel conformable with this site.

I've also had an instant that a member didn't reply for days but then again we all have our busy life's to get on with so I'm sure it will all come good.

I have had similar where I paid but didn’t hear anything, but this was with people I had traded with several times, so I did not worry.

Generally, most folk tell me that they have received funds immediately and will pop in the post tomorrow / the next day.

I think some recent events have highlighted the importance of trading reputation points and also their overall behaviour on the forum.  99.999 pct are genuinely decent people, but check their stats.

All the best

Thank you everyone for taking your time to help and give me your feedback on my current predicament,

still no answer and I shall see if the postman has brought me anything today from the member, I shall give it until 9pm tonight to name the member as something may of come up but I’m seriously doubtful unfortunately.

It’s not hard to find the current listing, as I commented on it today, I’m just hoping no else has been in contact with him but he hasn’t been online since payment,

painful learning curve for me it looks like 😔

@Scaffstacker, this is worrying, but I still remain positive 👍

The chap is a gold member and joined in Aug 20. No-one would spend that much on a membership to 'scam' only £110?

He's a 'quiet' member, only 60 odd posts.

It could be a number of reasons, I'm sorry that it has happened but hopefully all will be fine.

As a seller myself on occasion the forum to -

It is has always been my intention to try and offer and equal or BETTER service to what you would get from any reputable bullion dealer

As it is in MY interest to see if items sell/have interest on them/have sold/and offer a good speedy service.

So if i have "live" for sale items on forum, it is a common courtesy to any buyer to give timely updates, it builds trusts and also ensures return custom based on experience

Offer this equal or better than a bullion dealers services also helps build trusts and rep dealing on the forum, always try to reply in minutes, not days

You can ask ANY of my previous buyers how they are dealt with when buying from me and i would be 99.9999% sure their experience wasn't just ordinary, it was " extraordinary" !:)

Its a shame to read your experience today, hope it resolves itself soon in due course and your get your items soon @Scaffstacker

This is hilarious, BUT I would seriously leave this up as a message to sellers to communicate.

You did the right thing not naming the seller but communication is all part of the process when it comes to buying and seling, and the more everyone can make that experience better for other forum member the better.

I think that we have become expectant, as a nation these days, that every part of every transaction is documented in text messages, tracking etc. You buy anything on the internet, you get a receipt, maybe an invoice, even a tracking number. Then comes updates from the shipping company, often two (one email and one text) and then more telling you that it had just been delivered (I know, I was there) and a text telling you the same

Some folks are old school. They work 9 to 5 Monday to Friday and then switch off everything. You got your purchase the next working day, which for me is a result. I can understand the panic, because you are new and it is a big purchase, but hopefully, for the next one, give it a couple of working days before pulling the trigger.
