Another place for gold and silver - https://www.philatelicheritage.co.uk/

One problem I found with silver bullion Britannia coins is when you find out the older ones had different reverse designs some years.  I wish they would start that up again.
Next you find out there are lunar privy marked ones and so on - which by then, low premiums go out the window....(like the Year of the Pig privy marked Britannia).
The following is a good site which shows various Britannia coin and other releases.

MrStacker reacted to SidS in Do you stack historical silver coins?
    Well this is complex.
First off, yes I stack historic silver coins (and only historic coins). As a collector of coins primarily, I was accumulating a collection long before I had even come across the stacking community. It's important to note therefore that I have never bought bullion or modern pieces, and that any comments below obviously have a bias in favour of the numismatic stuff.
Firstly, anyone who has read Maloney or Rickards will note that they emphatically state that you should avoid numismatic coins and modern commemoratives at all costs and thereby stick to the cheapest and greatest quantity of silver for your buck... cost averaging etc.
I however, have to say that whilst I totally agree with them regarding modern commemorative issues, I think they have overlooked some potential gains that can be got from historic coins.
Firstly, definitely take their point with ultra rare coins that the price of them is high, the premiums can be high and the market to sell to will be restricted. So in this sense they are right, not a great investment. My Anglo-Saxon coins, too specialist and have gone no where over the past 15 years - some prices have even gone down.
However, mid-range/grade, problem free coins of popular series appear to do quite well. For example the Victorian young head and Edward VII silver coins (GVF through to UNC grades) have done extremely well over the past twenty years.
My top tip is to find coins that are scarcer and rarer in date, or better in grade or less often seen (even if thought to be common).
For example three crowns for sale all in VF, 1887, 1888 and 1889, all the same price. Which do you pick? Well 1887 was the first year, many survive in tip top grade, 1889 is the highest mintage and turn up everywhere! So 1888 it is.
You need a little knowledge, but for a good start buy a coin catalogue (Spinks for British, The Redbook for US) and then just browse eBay or auction sites and see which dates crop up time and time again. If you see something that doesn't turn up often, that's the one to get.
When I bought gold - If I saw a high grade St George sovereign at £240, a shield sovereign at £240 but lower grade - I'd buy the shield. Now if I'd seen an ex-mount guinea at £240 - it would have been the guinea I'd have bought.
There's lots of potential in historic coinage, but the three most important points to take home are:
    1) Know what you're buying.
    2) Know what is popular or likely to become so.
    3) Forget the spot price - unless you're buying junk silver.

Got a few coins from the mint today.
thinking what to do. The 5 Sov is a keeper for now. In safe. The 1oz Yale with a lion probably go back to mint.

The rabbit for sure back to mint, poor quality control again. Think it’s harder on the rabbit due to the background mirror finish. Still if your paying for a proof you need to get one.

To add to what @ant1882 already stated. If you care about the condition and appearance of your BULLION coins or bars here's my take:
For above "average" condition of new bullion coins: Chards and Atkinsons are good overall from my own experience.
If you don't mind random knocks, scratches and severe fingerprint marks: beware of Bairds and Sharps Pixley. They don't really handle their products well and the staff (from my experience) couldn't care less. This is referring to past instore experiences.
Good luck on your journey! 🙂

Today I received this cute little 1/4 Oz silver Britannia from @alexmcsheffrey
It will be a gift for my fiancée's little brother. Annoyingly, the one Britannia I won't be keeping happens to not be completely destroyed by the lack of quality control! Very good condition coin.
@LawrenceChardI want to get a gift box for it, I saw chards do full sovereign ones with room for a capsule, reckon this'll fit? Coin itself is 22mm, don't have a ruler on hand to measure the capsule

    What does inflation mean?
It means the expansion of monetary supply without an equivalent increase in GDP.
Prices rise as a consequence of inflation (price rises are not actually inflation just a result of it).
Right we see high inflation - so we are likely to see high price rises. Why would gold prices not go up?
Let's say gold were £1500 / ounce - then imagine as a result of inflation general prices doubled every year for 10 years. At the end of that time prices would be over 1000 higher.
Now do we imagine gold would still be £1500 an ounce?
Inflation means the currency is being dilated in value - it is getting weaker - it is becoming worth less and less, until it is worthless.
Gold is about preserving purchasing power - high inflation should be when gold gets into top gear.
On another thread i pointed out that if silver had kept up with real inflation in the USA it would be $36 an ounce - i make the case for price manipulation on that basis alone - no-one can say silver is not in high demand, supply is short so its price must be being suppressed.
