As a professional numismatist, I consider it essential to study fakes, and to learn to know the difference.
I also recommend it for collectors, stackers, and investors, thereby becoming numismatists in the process.
If the study of fakes is worthwhile, then collecting them also becomes worthwhile, although it would not be for everybody, but then we are all different.
It is possible to control the caratage of plating, so a clever forger could ensure that his fakes were plated using 22ct gold, and could also fine tune its precise alloy constituents to mimic authenticity.
Fortunately, Niton XRF machines are calibrated to detect gold plating, although I doubt this is infallible. Other brands of XRF machines probably also include similar technology.

The trouble with silver is that there's so much of it about.
Everyone on youtube seems to have 5000oz
Everyone in the USA seems to have 2000oz (and the equivalent in lead)
Some members on the forum have 10,000oz
For that reason, it's £20 /oz

No description given - hmmmm - even old timers are left wondering. Could it be a half sovereign or a full sovereign? Very worn. Could it be fake? Only one side of the coins shown. STEER CLEAR - these deals often end in tears.
The Silver Forum is a good place to buy. Buy from an established member with a decent trading record. You won't see the coins as they are posted unless you are a premium member but not everything goes in the first few days. Generally members recommend starting with sovereigns and half sovereigns - the ones you can see photos of both sides.

I am a Brit employed by a Danish company - before Covid, I spent most of my time in Copenhagen.
It sounds like you are after bullion - in my travels around Copenhagen, I have found the best place to be https://tavex.dk/ for bullion type coins.
It is > 1 year since I have been to CPH and things do change.  I know it is 'obvious' but do take a look at the premiums before you go - when I went, there were some significant differences in the premiums that I found surprising. i.e. Sovs on the day I visited were not the lowest premium coin.
Much more specialised is https://www.hafniacoins.dk I wouldn't go there unless you are into buying numismatic coins (not to start off with anyway).

Yesterday I wasted 2 hours making 2 round trips to pickup and drop back off my QBs from storage.  Up until a few weeks ago I thought my QB collection was complete until they decided to release a completer coin.  I picked one up as well as a compass cutter.  I have a box specifically for the QBs and it only allowed for 10 coins so I was going to cut a new hole for the completer.  I get home all ready to start work and then find out there isn't room in the middle.  If I was to put it in I would have to have it off centre and that would look odd.  Decided to cut 2 holes to make it symmetrical and will have 2 completers in there.  And now I've just noticed that I've put the 1/4 Yale and Falcon back into the wrong slots.  I'll have to remember to fix that when I drop off the other completer.

if you treat gold(bullion sovereigns) as savings, and stocks and shares as investment then you
should be able to allocate funds to them accordingly.
