Let's see here... Atkinsons are selling silver brits for as low as £23.30 per unit including VAT and delivery. So if you wanted to liquidate privately you should be able to get at least £21 pu.  And importantly you don't have to buy from a dealer, one would assume the price you pay on the secondary market ought to be close to what you can sell at?
Yes more leg work with Silver, more storage issues and Gold certainly has its advantages but Silver could potentially outperform gold by up to 100% making a G/S ratio of 40, be honest that's not crazy talk. But can anyone seriously see Gold outperforming Silver by 100% ie a G/S ratio of 160. (maybe but I wouldn't bet on it)
Premiums on fractional Gold especially the 1g bars, people buy them and pay crazy premiums imo. Royal mint are charging 50% over spot and that's without VAT. Amongst other things Silver serves as a surrogate fractional Gold.
Finally it took 25 years to recoup a Gold investment made in 1980 at the top of that bull market, so whilst not ideal VAT status is certainly not the be all and end all.
I could go on and on but don't want this post to come across as a rant... BECAUSE IT &$%&$ ISN'T!!!!! 🤣

Nothing grabbed me personally...I'd be careful with many of these myself and make sure you know what you're doing if after an investment, I suspect some of these coins will only make sense for certain collectors.
There is already the Sovereign, a Strike on the Day to come...who knows what else?
Also, I find the lack of posts on these by some of the more seasoned members of he forum quite telling (possibly).
Happy to miss to miss out personally rather than make a mistake.

Jvw reacted to GoldCore in Price Action for Gold in 2022- The Important Pattern of Higher Lows
Price action for gold in 2022….the important pattern of higher lows. The start of a new year is a natural time to look ahead. Before we look at what 2022 could have in store for the gold price – we take time to reflect.
    Why Buy Gold In 2022
Watch Stephen Flood on GoldCore TV

The gold price has risen from a pre-covid level of around US$1,550 – to a new high on August 6, 2020, of US$2,067, before starting a downtrend to a low of US back to a low of US$1,684 on March 30, 2021.

After a brief rally, the price has moved sideways in the US$1,720 to US$1,865 range – ending 2021 around $1,800 – in the middle of that range.

Of course, it is important to recognize that each major price low has come at levels higher than the prior low, which is a very good thing!
Gold Price Chart Gold Price Forecast & Prediction for 2022
The actual 2021 gold price average was well below the LBMA forecast survey average price call of US$1,974 and the Bloomberg Consensus price call of US$1,906.

Many times, those who write forecasts do so by assuming the recent past will continue. We see that in the forecasts which were submitted at the beginning of 2021 – the gold price rose by 27% in 2020, from a 2019 average price of US$1,393 to a 2020 average price of US$1,770.
So, forecasters in early 2021 were wrong because they assumed the 2020s 27% rally would continue in 2021.
So, what do forecasters say about 2022? Bloomberg’s consensus (or average) forecast calls for an average price of US$1,757 for 2022, with the lowest at $1,712 and the highest at $1,900.
This is in line with our assumption above – that many professional forecaster’s use the recent past to forecast the close future.
The gold price has moved somewhat sideways in 2021, so they figure it will continue to move somewhat sideways in 2022.
There are of course exceptions to this – JP Morgan, for example, calls for the gold price to decline back to the pre-covid level of US$1,550.
On the other hand, there are calls on social media for the gold price to end 2022 over $5,000. Also, most of these forecasts are based on a seriously devalued dollar.
What Wil Drive the Price of Gold in 2022?
While many forecasters are expecting a sideways performance of gold in 2022 there are several factors that could propel the gold price higher this year.
Inflation: Post-covid consumer price inflation to stay elevated throughout 2022. Record debt levels: The IMF reported that the debt level surge in 2020 was the largest in 50 years. To be sure 2020 was a unique year, but nonetheless that debt still must be serviced, meaning interest rates really matter. This leads to the next factor. Historic Highs Chart Monetary policy will remain accommodative: Central banks will keep interest rates below inflation which will keep real rates negative. Central banks will continue to buy gold under pressure to de-dollarize. Consumer demand for physical metal will continue to increase. This is particularly in China and India, which account for 50% of consumer demand. And lastly: there are geopolitical crisis on the horizon that if escalation occurs could lead to safe-haven gold demand. There are of course headwinds for the gold price. Also, a key factor is the decline in monetary policy support – central bank announcements, notable the US Federal Reserve.
Especially over the last six months expectation that quantitative easing will end and that interest rates will rise, has made owning gold an unpopular trade for hedge funds.
    This Will Effect Us All
Watch Steve St. Angelo Only on GoldCore TV

2022 of course will bring its own surprises. Examining the trading records of 2021 and 2020 might be informative about gold action, but maybe not.
However, the important concept for today is that gold, just like debt levels shown above, continues to make higher lows across many year which is a great indicator physical metals are being accumulated.

I love these hand cast bars in denominations from 1oz to 5oz. I appreciate this skillful craftsmanship and gladly pay one or the other euro more.
Also these two sets of Angel and Noble in Proof and Reverse Proof from 2017 each in an edition of 500 pieces inspire me very much. And the 5€ coin from Malta - Knights of the Past - is an absolute dream piece from the Germania Mint.

    Exactly this.
All the negativity around VAT is on the assumption that you will sell at spot price rather than market value. It's nonsense.

Yellow gold teeth isn't that great. It should be much easier to create a nice portrait, now without hair. How funny would it be, if they make platinum plated teeth on the gold coin. Much better than gildet, or antique finished teeth on silver.

By the way, there is a really nice coin with teeth on it.

eBay is full off madness. If you're in the right place at the right time (especially if the person listing used the wrong category title) there are still bargains to be had but on the whole prices tend to get pushed up. It could be the way an online auction invites compulsive behaviour in a lot of people (a bit like gambling) or it could be "the fear of missing out" for those that are hearing about PMs recently but have yet to fall into the rabbit hole that leads to places like TSF.
Who knows. My advice would be that if the lot you're viewing is genuinely scrap only (not all are) only put down your max bid of spot -x% and walk away.
There have been a few members on TSF recently selling bulk lots of pre-'47 and pre-'20 coins for spot value or less, it's worth doing some searching to see if the listings are still active.

    Hello from Canberra, Australia.
Like many, I like the biggest chunks of gold at the lowest prices possible. In reality I stick mainly to 1/10 gold coins & sovereigns, particularly Australian sovereigns.
For something a little different, I have a penchant for QE II sovereigns in BU & proof & am eagerly awaiting the newly released 2022.
I'm looking forward to trading with other collectors & stackers here & learning more about the hobby from a British & European perspective.
I am known as Shlomo Goldberg on the Australian Silver Stackers forum.
All the best & look forward to trading.

Welcome to the forum, and I have started as a stacker also. That quickly went out the door when I started collecting consecutive dates, then also different coins, and before you know it you are paying crazy premiums for that specific coin ;).
I like Goldsilver as a European dealer. Many on this forum can tell you otherwise because some had bad experiences, but my business with them has always been good.
I also stack Philharmoniker coins, they come out cheapest and are also beautiful coins. There are 20 in a tube so a little less coins per tube than other mints use. But that means you don't have to spend much to have 20 coins protected in a plastic tube at once

I have mentioned the colour and lack of silver content to them many times, but they do not appear to be very good at listening. I have also written to them with a quite detailed argument. I have mentioned this in previous TSF posts. They did not say no, which is hopeful, so in another 10 years or so, we might be able to convince them. It is possible that if they see sense and capitulate, it might be seen as the RM being wrong for the past 50 years, and me being right.

Unfortunately, Customs are often a P.I.T.A. everywhere. Some seem to think their job is to get as much of your money as possible, and make you do the work to get it back.
