Decided to back fill the Shanghai Mint Lunar 80mm Brass Medals. I'm not up to date.
The dragon was ridiculously expensive. It came in a broken pouch but I was expecting it to be opened and loose anyway. It too me forever to make sense of the back.
The Rabbit was the first release for this cycle. Originally 5k mintage but subsequently dropped to 1k and the styling of the back changed. Came sealed in the pouch and again, I was expecting it to be opened and loose and is also the cheapest of the series.
Really cool Medals Morezone! I must say I figured out the back of the Dragon straight away. I am perplexed with the back of the Rabbit. (-:

I will be honest. I am disappointed in RM Quality Control for 2oz Beasts. Something is going extremely wrong with the production of these coins.
I received three coins directly from Royal Mint Bullion in capsules and every single one had tiny marks on the Queen's cheek.
Perhaps this part of the design is too high and perhaps when these coins all stored in tubes prior to being placed in the capsules they have a tendency to scuff.
As I have said before these are premium items and something more than pure metal (bullion). It is clear to me that enrollment need to change that production method to be sure 100% that these marks do not appear.

I agree Numi. I think the queen must be ever so slightly higher than the rim. I just returned 3 of them back to The Coin Shoppe for the very same reason. Mine were definitely from a tube as they didn't come in capsules. I received a full refund. It's a shame , really. They are beautiful coins.

Added to my embryo Chinese medal collection today
Beautiful work by the mint. First of a series of 18 medals featuring the 18 Lohan or warriors to the Buddha .. Silver has 200 minted and brass perhaps a few more but low mintage. Next in series is about to be released... Bit different from my usual but genuine beautiful artworks with a good following
WOW Numi, the detail on all four of the medallions are incredible. Did you have them graded or did you purchase them this way?

Can I ask where you bought this from @QuickSilver1934 ? In after a strip of 5 in original packaging, think atkinsons have them at around £90, best I've managed to find so far.

I purchased 4 from APMEX here in the States. The one shown, I took out of the sealed plastic card board for my private collection. They were $19.99 USD each.

Now that's delving into "Ultra Rare Territory". Hmmm, I might take the challenge.

It really is a beautiful Proof. The BU (I'll post in a few days) looks impressive as well.
