Yes, very slightly, not enough to ruin the coin at all though as I hate polished coins with a passion!
Really not sure why people do it, if you want to get dirt off a coin just use a little ultrasonic thing
How do you know if it’s been polished? Fine hairlines I’m guessing

Ah there you go! Planning something similar @BackyardBullion?!

Yes indeed - I thought I would have a lot more shiny new ones considering I ordered them in. Apparently not!
Got a couple of little gems from the batch though - a 1994 Ellan Vannin isle of man penny & a 1998 Falklands Island penny.
Not that I was coin roll hunting - but I do have something very special planned for these pennies!
I’ve seen some people make hard wearing flooring out of 1 and 2 pennies. Cheaper than some more common flooring alternatives apparently!

Soft rounded details and shiny, pitting in the fields
Hows the rim? id guess it's probably an ex-mount
Rim looks similar all the way round, 3 phots are roughly 120degree rotations.
more high res photos arranged. I could do with buying a new lense, this has lots of small scratches on

Then I think I got a deal on this 1899 Perth mint full sovereign. Not sure the seller new about the scarcity (700kish minted first year for Perth to start producing sovereigns, somewhat scare but not-rare). I’ve been outbid a few times on these at £280-300 so to get it at £240 delivered seems a good deal to me.

Great day for me. Courtesy of @JunkBond this 1892 half sovereign arrived today, my first shieldback half...not that I have many halves so a nice one to add to the small collection.
(Bit off stuff on the lense to the left of center, I need a new magnifying one)

And the NGC silver results: a tad disappointed to miss the PF70 on the 2014 Britannia and the 2017 Krugerrand proof. I do have a Pf70 2014 Brit already - so cant really complain.
Would be good if they would include a short report of why they grade it like they do

A great 2005 pf69 is coming up and some other really nice itemsThanks for the recent (18th Feb) review of 2017 sov variations. Clears it up now. I found a proof for about £450 but no box/coa and probably handled. Give it a miss? I can get an unboxed one for around £700

Absolutely nothing yesterday!
Not for lack of preparation - went to a live auction and the viewing beforehand, but every piece of silver or gold (sovereigns, Krugerrands) and nice pre-47 silver went for just above my target prices. Always so tempting to just let rip and overpay for something just to make yourself happy -but i was well behaved and disciplined; refuse to pay £270 for a standard bullion sov or £1000 for a Krugerrand after you add the commission. Can walk into HGM and buy them cheaper....
Besides - i need to save some money to buy some Bulls ....and pay taxes!

I had a thread about auctions a while ago. I watched a lot of auctions but rarely found a bargain. Sometimes, but rarely.
like your identified, the buyers premium is a killer for value
