hi guys. thanks for the replys

first of all that is just my opinion, i am not trying to insult a business, however i learnt many years ago a business is NOT your friend, i learnt this lesson with amd, intel and nvidia for example.

as stated, i prefer to use 1 of my credit cards for the reason stated, 56 pays to pay off the balance, nut more importantly i get 1% cashback, which soon adds up over the year, if i order pepsi or gold at the end of the year this cash back is a decent amount, in another way, it reduces everything i buy by 1%

lets look at this for a example:

Best Value Sovereign Gold Bullion Coin:

Atkinsons Bullion and Coins £380.93 - delivered

Chards Coin and Bullion Dealer £382.87 - delivered

using my cashback card these prices fall to £377.12 and £379.04 respectively, i would PREFER to use chards (even at the slightly more expensive price, as they are most local dealer to me and i always prefer to use local business if possible, if atkinsons can do this price while taking a hit on credit card fees, why cant chards, from what i can see it is only chards that do not accept credit cards out of all the online gold dealers in the uk.

another things "online" is the key word here, these company's are selling online, i dont think im aware of any uk online retailer who refuses to accept credit cards, its all very strange to me.

so rant over, all im saying is, i get 1% back when using my card, also i can buy gold or a bottle of pepsi, using this credit card and i have up to 56 days to pay for these items, hope this helps.

    Hey @goldlips,

We appreciate your comment and after speaking with Lawrence there is a whole host of reasons as to why as a business we do not currently accept this payment method.

We do however constantly look at ways of improving our service and would hate to think we have lost you as a customer due to this.

For any more information please email info@chards.co.uk and we will be happy to speak.

    Thanks,

    Chris

  2. Hello all,

We're hoping to get some guidance from everyone here as we've taken in a limited stock of 2009 Thunderbird Totem 1 oz Gold Bullion Coins.

As these are reasonably rare (we've never had them in stock!) we wondered what everyone's thoughts would be in terms of a fair percentage premium for these coins?

Let us know - guidance is always appreciated, as ever we want to make sure we're being fair with our pricing.

    Many thanks,
    Chards

Hello, looking at these coin, i have a doubt and im a little worried, because both have diameter/weight/thickness in the specific, but even if of the same type and year, they show different color: one the usual pink/red one, the other a bright yellow.

    Opinions?

thanks and sorry for my bad English…

Hi @Von. The right-hand coin looks cleaned. Possibly polished and used in jewellery. The photos aren't great so it's difficult to determine the authenticity solely from the provided photos. We would need to see it in person.

Ok… honestly i have always payed attention at diameter/thickness and weight, but seeing them now make me question myself about colour.

A lot of fakes have the same specification as the genuine coin.

I believe Lawrence at Chards is an expert on sovereigns. He's also on the forum but I haven't seen him in a while.

We'll let him know he's being missed.

You have an old web site think it was something like taxfreegold that was a go to for just about all coins information but about 4 years ago it stopped working on the phone which was disappointing as learnt so much from it.      Chards is my go to but if I was new atkinsons web site is a lot easier to navigate on a phone

This is something we are working on. We are in the process of developing a mobile friendly website /application which will be the BEST on the market when we're finished!!!

This is only my second purchase with Chards and the communication was excellent with my first purchase. Top notch, very good, along with the politeness and understanding. My second one was the same right up until Monday when I was left in limbo with communication.

    Hello @Oldun

Please send us a direct message with your order number & email address and I shall look into this now. Everyone who has placed an order for the 5 Sov set should of been contacted, so it could of possibly gone into the JUNK folder if we are not a 'safe sender' in your email thread.

We will keep an eye out for the details you send, and make sure that this is rectified ASAP.

    Regards,
    The Chards Team

Hello Lawrence do you know how long this run of coins will be made for? Do you think they will stop come coronation? Thank you

I suspect it will only be for a few months.

It is possible I have seen some information and forgotten it.

Someone at @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer might know the answer.

    😎

We have no further information in regards to when this run of coins will cease.

As soon as we do, we will let everyone know.

As you mentioned, the issue of postage costs is a hot topic and has been the subject of discussion within our team.

At Chards, we believe in offering our customers the best possible service while providing competitive pricing. Offering "free delivery" on all of our products may seem appealing, but it often works out to be more expensive in the long run. By charging a visible delivery fee at checkout, we are able to offer more competitive pricing on our products.

Additionally, as one of the few brick-and-mortar bullion dealers in the UK, we value the opportunity for our customers to visit us in person. Increasing our prices to accommodate free delivery could potentially alienate our local customers.

We understand that everyone has different preferences and we want to ensure that we are offering the best possible service to all of our customers. We conducted a poll in 2021 to gather feedback on the issue of delivery fees.

While the results were informative, we believe it is important to gather a wider range of opinions on this matter. As such, we have decided to run a new poll to further understand the preferences of our customers.

The coin is 1/25oz gold, melting value today @£58.50. Advertised as having a surcharge of £35 and premium 30%, so should be for sale @£93.50 or @£76. Very confusing......but guess? For sale is @£111, a surcharge of @£52.50 and a premium of @89%!😜

Hi @stefffana. Sorry for the confusion. That product has a 30% premium plus a £35 surcharge. So it's intrinsic + 30% + £35. It doesn't help that they're both labelled as "premium".
    It's the same with the 2013 8 double which has a 30% premium + £10 surcharge. 🙂

That taxfreegold website doesn’t work for me . Anyone else have same problem ?

The links work fine on desktop devices. The problem is when you try to view them on a mobile device, as you get redirected to m.taxfreegold.co.uk which does not exist in the DNS. Definitely a problem at your end.

Thanks for pointing it out. The tech team are looking at it now.
