  1. Seller have some of same year but only this one with that dent. I changed it . My worries was more for patina. Thanks. looking the dent with seller glass make me think it was a mint issue, because a direct hit has to be very strong to produce a dent like that, look similar to a bubble or something present on the striking surface (sorry for my English)
  2. Thanks. Yes patina worried me because the two tone color, but seller had many of them of same year so i guess that maybe they were rolled in a tube directly from mint, who know. About that defect yes could be something that hit hard the surface. I think ill ask fir a change.
  3. Hello, can i have your opinion about this sovereign patina -color and about the strange hit/defect on horse chest? thanks
  4. In your opinion a pinkish patina can turn yellow after a deep polish? I cleaned some coins gently but i obtained a shiny pink color, but i think jewelers use other methods maybe. thanks
  5. Thanks. Just to be sure i mean that :
  6. Thanks for the input. Measures and weight and thickness are tested and ok. i bought also a Victorian sovereign scale, i think that if it pass these test at least “at weight” value im safe. Interesting what you say about owning gold until 1970, will try google that and see the story, I didn’t know that.
  7. Hello, i want share two sovereign for two questions ( im new, have patience). First question is about a shiny like mirror field 1982, compared to another older, wanted know if this year is like that… …second question is about the edge of a Gillick (especially top left edge thickness on St.George side), if you see something wrong or if maybe was a mounted one. thanks, and sorry for my English 😇
  8. Interesting topic, even if it explains why gold tarnish, not because mine is more gold color, but maybe silver have something to do with that ( if not an heavy jeweler polish did) https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1001052107600308
  9. And a couple albertina chains. Sorry for the ot, i collected them for years
  10. Another old silver cigarette case and some sovereign holder
  11. Later i post some if my sovereign holders and silver chains. I used to collect them even if now im selling most of them
  12. They have a specific name? I can’t find them, its why i thought about made two bars to hold them (if i find these too)
  13. Hello, years ago I bought this bice and engraved cigarette case in silver, but i need your help because idk where i can find the “bands” that keep the cigarettes. Im also thinking to buy (where?) teo silver bands and try to make a metal band (without spring). thanks
  14. Hello, i use this thread because i have a similar question, for who is in silver melting etc. I have really a lot of silver from family that I don’t want clean nor use so… If i decide to made a brick from old spoons and silverware, what is the average and honest “lose of weight “ after the fusion? And about purity, im thinking if is better to refine 0.800 silver to have a pure kg, or keep the 0.800 purity and made a 1250gr brick to have a pure kg inside (hope my English make ut understandable) thanks
