So lets hope that the 300 mintage for the sets doesn't mean another 450 as individual 2oz coins for the rest of the beats 😞

Talk about milking a spent cow.
The Queens Beast series seems to have more new releases than Cher has had ‘farewell’ concerts.
I don’t know how RM do it.

I can see you have already had lots of advice and a range of opinions.
I recently re-wrote a newbie advice page, and published it here: https://www.chards.co.uk/blog/precious-metals-information-and-advice-for-newbies/1008
You will note it starts with some questions to ask yourself, as it helps to try to be clear in your own mind about your objectives.
From your post, a few things are not clear.
You mention buying one coin "a 1oz gold coin", but later change to plural " bullion-proofs", before finally back to singular.
Also "bullion-proofs" is a slight oxymoron, as a coin is usually either a bullion coin or a proof coin, although it could be a proof version of a bullion coin, which may, or may not, be what you meant.
"what would be the best coin to buy" is really a matter of personal preference, which partly explains why you got so many different answers.
My General Advice: Buy at the lowest premium within reason. (Especially if buying bullion for investment).
I do welcome feedback about my new page.

My personal go to are ATSBullion, Atkinsons and Chards (oh and Bairds, too). Although you can find cheaper deals on hear. Price drops take their time, like any business that needs to weather shocks in price.

I'm new so not sure if this is a bullion proof, but it was my first gold purchase. Beautiful coin, and I believe limited mintage to 5000 (don't quote me on that).

Yeah the prices go down - go figure. 😛
People will euphorically pile into gold at some point in the next 2 years I recon though.
How can you be a precious metals collector and not know who Mike maloney is? 🤣
I call him 'A load of Baloney', especially when he teamed up with Kiosaki.
I find it hard to trust a person that owns a gold and silver company for predictions. 😛

What the best coin is, depends on the purpose.
For one ounce there is no reason to buy a Britannia for tax reasons (unless there is a hyper inflation and the tax rates lag behind. Currently, the  net gain tax (difference between purchase and selling) has an allowance of well over 10K, not sure about the exact figure right now).
However, Britannias are still the most liquid one ounce coins in the UK. This being said, I'm pretty sure any dealer would buy any of the most common one ounce coins world wide, which are, apart from the Britannia, the Krugerrand, the Maple, the Kangaroo, the Philharmonic, the American Eagle, the Buffalo and probably also the Chinese Panda. Not necessarily in this order.
All but the Krugerrand and the Eagle are pure gold, so if you want the most yellow, avoid them, if you want to be able to handle your coin, buy one of them as their copper makes them a little less soft and more suitable for handling.
Apart from the named coins, there are plenty other ones that are less common but might be more appealing, optically.
Personally, right now, I would buy a Krugerrand.

Hi I have lived overseas for over 7 years (caribbean)and have been investing in Platinum, I currently have a mix of coins and bars and have spoken to my dealer here about swapping (paying a small premium) all my non uk products to uk royal mint platinum Britannia’s (I want to swap them for the CGT relieve in the future)
I plan to move back after next april 2022 so everything I own will be over 6 months old at least. Does anyone have experience of flying in with approx 100oz  I will be applying for a transfer of residence relief TOR1 but will I have to pay any duty or VAT? I believe they are allowed as a personal personal possession as long as they are over 6 months. (i also have some gold and silver but I might sell off the silver as it’s bulky)
I have all the documentation to prove where the money came form and how it was earned just worried about the duty side of things.
I also will be traveling with some watches and jewelry again all over 6 months old any issues with these ?
    Thanks
    J

MetalsMan reacted to ChrisSilver in ⚠️ Please uphold your word. & please finalise any trades
The Silver Forum is built on trust and integrity.

Whilst we believe that members should utilise the trading feedback system and TSF itself should not intervene in members trading between each other. On this occasion we have decided that it is better for the community to close this member's account.
Members who wish to list items for auction please understand the risks of doing so, please see this topic here on hidden reserves not being allowed, which is linked to in the QuickStart Guide to trading, and suggests to list an auction at a minimum starting price you are willing to accept. Or, what is more recommended; simply list your trade listing as a ‘for sale’ with your asking price. You have more flexibility when listing a ‘for sale’ listing opposed to an auction, in a ‘for sale’ listing you can set your price and invite offers and then always reduce your price if there was no interest at your original asking price. Any item that is listed as an auction, the seller should uphold their word and sell at the final auction price to the applicable winning bidder. It is also not possible to list an auction on TSF if you have listed your items elsewhere.
Please complete any outstanding trades with @ali187 before 24th June 2021 (so by the end of 23rd June 2021 UK forum server time), when their account will then subsequently be closed.

Get creative not too difficult, something metallic of no significant value that’s worth taking, that is also hollow, old bike frame rusty radiator, fire extinguisher etc, you can even buy fake tin cans disguised as baked beans etc. Great for hiding small amounts of gold and have it in different places. Won’t loose all your stash then.
how ever if it’s a SHTF moment the thief  might be looking for food!!

Pretty sure most burglars worth their salt carry a metal detector to find hidden goodies.   A hand held wand that will detect PMs would cost about $300 usd .  The hand held wands are OK, but better would be full-blown prospector detector with a larger head that can be used to sweep the outside grounds, the floors, closets, and even ceilings pretty quickly.
Most can detect as little as half a grain of gold (!).   Yes, they will not discriminate very well (metal is metal to most of them) but an experienced user will know when he is sweeping over a nail head or a gold sovereign ;-)
I have no idea if a metal detector was used in this case, but it is certainly possible.

I like doing this too. My favourite are the ambulance chasers. Not so much fraud as bottom feeders granted, but easy sport. “Yes I had an accident” is all it takes - and they are on the hook! I often make up injuries to body parts I’ve made up. Haemorrhage of the oblungta, internal damage to my gnosifum etc. Occasionally I’ve told them I died and they chat away for another couple of mins.
