I was chatting with a chap from Malta the other day and he was just about to buy a couple of shields off somebody for 450 Euros each.  I don't think sovs are really such a big deal outside the UK.  Folks do collect or stack them, but there aren't necessarily any advantages such as CGT exemption for doing so.  In some countries (NZ, Singapore, Indonesia and Australia, for example) legal definitions of investment gold restrict it to .995 fine or better, so .900 or .917 gold coins don't qualify and get hit with the local equivalent of VAT.

Welcome @Makey1976 you’ll find plenty of good advice on these pages and this forum. Sovs and Brits are a great place to start out (that’s predominantly where I’m at). With regards prices, have a look at what’s sold recently on the forum and what’s available online at some of the dealers (Atkinsons, Chards, Tavex, Baird etc etc) and that’ll give you a good range to work within. Silver Brits are knocking about for about £24 on the forum (and no vat when bought on secondary market) and gold Sovs are selling around the £400 mark at the minute. The best deals will go super fast so if not already a premium member it’s worth signing up so you get immediate access to the trade section. Good luck and have fun

Yeah, the die rotation error is seeming to be quite popular and dare I say a cooler error than the honeycomb variety!
£558 current bid, will it go higher!? Maybe!
This s what I know about numbers:
22 confirmed from original person that got in touch with me.
1 confirmed from a different person who has sent me video evidence of an error coin
10 from another individual which I have been told about from a reputable source (no reason to doubt)
This means 33 at this time are known.
The fact that there are so few confirmed sightings of them and the original customer got them in December but by February nobody else had noticed them or contacted the mint about them suggests these could be SUPER rare.

I like the Chards one, not that it is 'better' but it has a section that tells you the price of  a sovereign, half etc without having to think about it.  And has the spot price of a silver 1oz on the same page

From the Chards website at the £60k quantity break
    Best value sovs - 4.55%
    Memorial sovs - 7.05%
    KC III 1oz Brits - 3.4%
150 sovs or 100 sovs + 12x1oz Brits would work well.
You could also stick the £ into an allocated gold account (locking in the gold price when it suits) and then decide what products to purchase at a later date.

I would phone them all and ask what the best 'package' they can put together for you, and also what they recommend as best value for CGT-free.

I believe you will be able to see the kind of premium by putting the stuff you are looking to buy for them into the basket on their websites.
I don't think they offer anything different over the phone. As this would not be classed as a large purchase in the gold world.
I would also opt for Sovereigns as they are the easiest to liquidate quickly. Maybe adding some half sovereigns these days since sovereigns are getting so expensive.

    £60k in gold
My advice would be to not   drop the full amount in one go, maybe break it down in £6k purchases.
Buy over a period of time so they average the cost out, smaller sizes tend to be much easier to liquidate then the bigger weights  on the secondary market.

Young Head sovs cheaper on the continent from €449.95 (£397.19) + plus post
https://www.europeanmint.com/british-gold-sovereign-queen-victoria-young-head-coin/ €449.95 looks to be a fixed price listing (5 available)
    https://goldsilver.be/en/gold/2004-full-gold-sovereign-1891.html €452 adjusts to spot (30 availble)
Shipping from the EU so postage and hassle make it less of a deal but interesting to me that there is less mark up for Young Head sovs on the continent than with UK dealers.
