Just had a look around before ordering some today... Atkinsons now showing out of stock, was able to 'add to basket' as a pre order earlier today now the button is disabled it seems... Bleyer have them along with smaller quarter sov in pre order, I've not seen that size on other dealers sites yet. Bullion By Post pre order seems to be ok. Also spoke to Chards today and the lady on the phone said probably in store in February there. Baird have them for pre order online too Hatton Garden Metals.. Can't see them on their site

Just start accumulating collections I suppose, I bought around 500 half crowns in December that came from 3 different lots, there were other lots of mixed coins on the forum though that I didn't buy. A lot of the very good deals tend to sell quite quick on the forum just depends who comes online I suppose and also you never know what will come up for sale

It depends, if you're specifically looking for nice crowns etc you might get some coming up at large % premiums. I tend to buy bulk lots 2+ kgs at a time and usually pay spot at most, haven't looked on ebay. I share similar concerns but can't ignore it completely. If I could only choose one metal for some reason or I was starting now I would have to choose gold primarily but having first got silver a few years back starting from the low teens £ per oz it's a pro and a con... Makes it seem expensive now (partly due to higher spot but also premium % is higher) but puts a good bit of profit margin should I sell now.

After checking through a few you do get a feel for them and the sound they make. A case of 'hmm... this one seems a bit strange' compared to the others lets investigate further even without checking the date. I had a bulk load of half crowns that came in capsules recently and out of 270 I noticed the 4 that were not 50% just as I was whipping them out of the capsules whilst watching a few videos not specifically reading the dates on them all carefully.
