OMG - James Party Pooper - I intend to make clear with the Atkinson's screen shots - there is gold in it .... could be 100% pure could be a 'jewellers coin, could be not .... someone may wanna see 😄

@VeracityM - given that @AdamDutton is sending you another sovereign, why not just scrap this coin for whatever it's worth and remove it from the gene pool (so to speak).  That would eliminate any future risk of it being passed off as something it's not.

That's what I would do too..🤔

I feel like scrapping it could be a wasted opportunity to learn more about spotting them so none of us make the same mistake (in terms of buying, or selling). I'd love for one of our most knowledgeable members to have it so they can first take pics and perhaps share any of the weird or noticeable things about it. Additional scans would also be good of course (and then scrap it afterwards).

That was my hope - I just want to recover my losses in this mini drama

This is also interesting - `I incurred losses with this (Multiple shipping, time not working - most of today, but worst of all my standing with Atkinsons), so I need to cover the 'injury to wallet' 😄

I'm curious as to what members think should happen to the coin - even Atkinsons are perplexed by it and genuinely couldn't tell if its pure or not - they offered 50% spot value as they will need to cut it and it'll be scrap then

They said it's weighing correctly too

Ultimately if fake but real gold it should be scrapped anyway, just cut the thing in half and then if gold throughout..scrap yourself.

Head to local B&Q ( OTHER DIY OUTLETS AVAILABLE) and use their brand new bolt cutters 😆 🤣

OK, but I'm not paying for them - incurring further expense - I will just go in make use of their equipment and post follow up pic  🙂

That's what I meant 😆

Also do a specific gravity test before cutting.. @BackyardBullion has a great video on YouTube. Then you will be semi sure of its gold content before the trip to B &Q
