So after quite a while of collecting and stacking Pt earlier this evening i put £889.11 into my Pt spreadsheet and for the first time ever the little red number with the negative sign changed to a little black number without a negative sign. I must be doing something right!

Congrats 🥳

Me too  (42,28 euro in the black on my little 8,5 oz stack)

Your patience has been rewarded ! 😊

I have one single ounce of Pt purchased in September 2022 when spot was USD835.

It has gone up by almost $200. I doubt I'll be in the red any time soon. 🤗

My first was a QB Lion for £800 delivered.

What year were you buying? 🤔

edit: 2018 I guess

Haha - pretty much the same for me!  My first one was a 2018 Britannia which cost me £890 delivered.

My average price across 9 oz of physical Pt is £906, so I'm still in the red.  But my ETF averages about £680...

I only have 4ozs physical with an average of £925

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

Yep - first purchase was in 2018.  I managed to get a QB Lion for £829 delivered.  My lowest delivered price per oz is £725 (Apr 20), and the highest is £1016 (Sep 22).  I'm hoping not to buy any more physical Pt after splurging on 4 oz of it this year.

I need to look at charts but I seem to recall low 600s at the time?

Yep, just looked. It's a volatile bugger

Almost 3 years ago - March 2020 - I landed a couple of American Eagles for less than £580 each including delivery from the European Mint.
How I wish I had ordered more !!
Those days are long gone now with VAT etc and high premiums in addition to the rise in spot - nice for the coins you have, but less so for those that you still need to buy.
Tudor Beasts for example when the RM releases the next coin(s).

Just noticed Platinum now more than Palladium although both metals in the doldrums could bode well for PT if/when global economies every improve.

As the saying goes, money is made in bull markets and fortunes are made in bear markets.

I've got my 2g of platinum.  To da moon, I say.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

Platinum will be worth less than silver in 10 years. Get out while you can
