πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ͺ For sale here are two absolutely stunning Peruvian gold una libra coins! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ͺ

As an avid collector of world gold I personally love these! I have a cracking 1913 una libra in my own collection and would like to offer others the opportunity to pick one up for themselves!

Each of these stunning uncirculated Peru una libra coins is comprised of 7.9881 g of .917 gold and has a current melt value of Β£308.82.Β

The first libra coins were minted in 1898 and wereΒ identical in technical specifications to a full British gold sovereign;Β i.e. being comprised of the same weight and purity of gold with a diameter of 22 mm. These una libra gold coins are also referred to as 'Peruvian pounds' and feature the stunning Peruvian coat of arms on the obverseΒ and stoic effigy of Manco CΓ‘pac on the reverse. The Peru una libra gold coin series ran for a total of 32 years from 1898 until 1930. In 1901, Peru adopted a gold standard based on the libra, at which point one libra was equivalent to 10 soles.

The Peru gold libra was minted in denominations of one-fifth, one-half,Β and one-pound. The two coins on offer here are one-pound (una libra).

For those who are interested in some of the history and imageryΒ surrounding the obverse and reverse designs of these coins, the Peruvian coat of armsΒ consists of three fields: sky blue to the upper left, with aΒ vicuΓ±alooking inwards; white to the upper right with aΒ cinchonaΒ treeΒ (the source of quinine), and red in the horizontal lower field, with a golden cornucopia spilling out gold coins. These symbols represent the natural wealth of Peru. On the top, like a crest, is a civic crown of oak seen from the side. On each side of the coat of arms shown above are a flag and a standard. The obverse featuring the stoic portrait of Manco CΓ‘pac, also known as Manco Inca and Ayar Manco, is tribute to a man who is thought to have been the first governor and founder of the Inca civilisation in Cusco in the early 13th century.

Now, onto the two examples on offer...

The 1916 una libra is a very strong example and is present in a very respectable, uncirculatedΒ grade for the year. The year of 1916 had a mintage of 582,000. This is the third highest mintage in the series, being surpassed only by 1917 and 1918 at mintages of 1.928 million and 600,000 respectively.

The 1968 is, certainly in my opinion, the real gem here. This is a very high grade piece and is present in brilliant uncirculated condition. The lustre on this is simply astonishing. While I never guarantee the grades of the coins I sell, this is easily mid-MS in my opinion. Grade aside, this has tremendous eye-appeal and would stand out a mile away in any coin collection. To yet add to the lustrous loveliness of this luscious piece is the fact that 1968Β is one of the lowest mintage years of the series, coming in at only 7,307!

Feel free to check the Numista page out for this coin series here:Β https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces46644.html

Okay, enough of my rambling! πŸ˜…

The collection is coming along fine, but there are still lots to be added…it’s a going to be a very long-term pursuit, as some are just about β€˜unobtainium’!Β

Hit this link for the ones I have:-
