Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

Picked up this ultra rare 2005 Libertad proof set in a trade. 2005 had 3200 1oz proofs which was a low low mintage and these sets in the mint packaging are so unusual they are basically invisible to google ))

I don't think it would grade that high. I have sent 6 for grading so fat and it looks to be max 61 and maybe Au55 the small lines might even get details grading which is what happened to me.

thanks Numistacker. Was hoping to hear your thoughts. It is interesting what you say. I kinda knew the shop keeper would be overly optimistic since it seems to be part of what they do. But hopefully one Day we'll get an answer.

Well this has got to be record for me.

Bought a 2001 Sovereign on the Ebay special about 4:05pm yesterday. And I have the coin in my hand now at 10am today.

an 18 hour delivery time, can't complain about that :)

I recently received a package from California that was posted Saturday late afternoon (local time), first thing Thursday morning. I thought this was bloody good.

Finally managed to get the latest 2 Star Trek coins.  I didn't want the captains so had to wait until there were enough items to order to reduce the postage rate/item since the places with cheap postage only wanted to sell them as a pair.  Picked up the 2016 1/10 Roo, 1/10 Monkey and Silver Roo to go with them as well as some spare genuine Perth Mint capsules.

Missed the 1/4 oz Brit offered on here, so was looking at the 1/4 oz Krug at HGM...gone, so thought about that 1/2 nugget....

Settled on a double sov at Bairds which came in cheaper than the half oz from HGM. Less gold I know, but thought I might get something interesting of a lower mintage. (I am not a collector, but a stacker. Repeat 3 times.)

In the end I received a 1983 proof. A high mintage year at 13000 individual and 13000 box sets, but quite happy even though it is without box/certificate.

Currently stacking 1/4 oz (22ct) and Sovs.

This is the second Sydney mint Aussie type sovereign I have, so I guess I'm collecting them now!

This one is quite nice except for the rather ugly scratch on Vickies cheek, shame but the price was right.

1 hour ago, HelpingHands said:

Is the type on the obverse usually that skewiff.  It looks like it needs rotating a few degrees anticlockwise.

Yes it's the way they are. The truncation of the bust is very sloping and the head as a whole is a little too big for the coin. There's not much room for the date. Also my photo is a little off vertical, if you rotate it slightly, it looks better.
