Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

Basically this, middle wheel on mouse or right click image and open in tab.

I'm limited to 2-3mb here so i have to reduce the image size by over 50%. I'm not focused on that point specifically just using centre focus, but there is plenty of detail i think to see, next time something interesting pops up i'll be sure to manual focus directly on it :)

well this is the best I can do by blowing up the image, not bad really.

1859shield.JPG

can't see it being a double strike but it doesn't quite look like a "9" over "x" punch error either, too much separation. My best guess would be a 9 over small 9 mistake, although I've never seen one. Maybe 9 over 0

worth sending off for investigation.

The missing bit on the 5 is a common one, but it looks like someone has tried to alter it, lord knows why. what are the chances of that damage being accidental?

That seems to be the error certificate. It says maximum coin mintage and has wrong figures

Cheers numis. Will get the correct one sent hopefully and keep the error one :) Spoke to the RM last week about the error coas and the original purchaser can ask for the correct coa. It seems that I can get that sent to me via the original purchaser and if so would make the set rarer.

I love the dragon/phoenix one, the ducks are Ok but I just can't abide those swans. Is it just me, but I think they look naff?

Yeah the duck one has nice details with the flowers and pads

Swan one is very simple details and plain, almost tacky dare I say

I've no doubt about their intentions and feelings:), it's an interesting idea. I just think the engraving and finished product looks amateurish.
