Today I Received.....

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

Received this error strike 1oz Gold Britannia from @ilovesilverireallydo   Its a beauty.  This has got to be the only hobby in the world where we are happy to get a mangled product and be happy about it!     It's clearly not been flush within the collar out by 3-4 mm easy.    Really don't know how this got out of the factory like this.

The standard 'common' 1884M has the WW buried, both of these have WW clear.  That is the scarce version in Marsh reference 106A.  On top of that one has no BP.  That variety is not listed in Marsh but if you have a Spinks pre-decimal it shows in there as 'extremely rare'.  Reference is S3857E

There are still loads varieties out there not listed anywhere.

You've got them all, haven't you Dave?

Ask them to grade that in yon floating slab you spoke of the other week to highlight the minting/thickness error it would look better in one of them they might see you’ve a point.

That's why I enjoy the hunt so much, I like posts of multiple young heads so I can scan them for anything unusual.
Unfortunately I only really know what I am looking for on Victoria young heads.  I am starting to learn slowly on jubilee heads but have to admit I am still pretty poor with the the DISH variations

I specialise in DISH sov's so if you come across any give me a shout...trying to see if the JEB is hooked, imperfect, wide spaced or arched or higher and lower letters on a worn sov is a nightmare.

DISH……..

🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️😳🤔😵‍💫

Don't stress too much, mate!

It is a specific jargon used by sovereigns lova'.

WW is William Wyon ( the great engraver), BP is Benedetto Pistrucci ( the great designer).

DISH is probably what they eat this dinner, I dunno exactly, can vary.

My DISH was Beef and mushrooms this evening.

Cheers!🤗

Why’s that?

variations?

The G&D Melbourne's are all the scarce or rare variations, and that's the majority of them
Not really sure why I ended up with so many really, but they are all decent quality ones so I wont over-think it.  There is only one Sydney and one London on the G&D

All 1884M are raised as far as I am aware, must just be the picture on mine

I take it the shield and G&D share a mintage once again of 2.9m?
