After buying the HP set for my children they have now developed an interest in coins and are tracking the gold price. Whilst we may find them tacky they are the gateway coins for the next generation of TSF members

Gold purchases can be for a number of reasons, including and in no particular order , savings outside bank or other scrutiny and control, benefits arising from capital gains tax exemption and if bullion ease of liquidity, an interesting pastime where you can meet like minded individuals and in some instances take a major dislike too, the opportunity to lose money on RM proof issues that are becoming daily and general collecting amusement am sure more sensible reasons exist but there’s a couple for you

Disappointed for you guess they can’t openly admit so early on to being less than respectful however the issue has been raised and thus recourse for later when they issue the next batch of overpriced coins in a tidy box

When I first started collecting I fell foul of the RM, canny salesperson quickly spotted I was a newbie. Subsequently I have some nice old coins in tidy packaging with an SOA and warnings never to open lest the sophisticated grading EF is contaminated. The premium to comparative coins I’ve seen on TSF hurts like hell. Caveat Emptor foff they are exploiting trust and debasing the institution. Fortunately having laughed at subsequent attempts to fleece me with what’s best described as s*** they leave me alone. I wish you all the best in your endeavours. I hope the recipient of your complaint can read.

Delivery and QC issues will keep this alive too

speaking from experience When you get old you’ll appreciate the bigger coins easier to see the detail of the designs and find them that is of course if you can remember where you put them in the first place

I managed to get 10gs on the interest free credit facility which probably means I’ll be back later

Thanks for this I got my children the gold 1/4 oz’s low ish mintage and still available at the mint, the original release date if I recall was when QE2 passed away.

Looking at the RM web sites Christmas stuff it is amazing to see what hasn’t shifted going back a couple of years

Are the birthdays desirable? Still new to this really and having ridden the rollercoaster of recent releases am a bit unsure as in anyone bothered by his 75th or is it just desirable due to the low mintage ?

I am guilty also of being busy and having care responsibilities I have forgotten to provide feedback in some instances having to ask the seller how to owing to infrequent purchases and a wrecked head most of my transactions have been via PM and I always explain the difficulties and the sellers have always been very accommodating what is also very annoying is when you pm people and they don’t bother to reply

Bit late to the day but very happy with this keepsake, didn’t think I’d be buying proof silver from the mint again but pregraded offers comfort against the QC aggro and true to form another absolutely Kak photo 👍

Finally got my set today lovely box and layers of packaging it was a good feeling knowing they were going to be top pop no pre opening QC anxiety
