Somewhere out there is a fake 1934 wreath crown, or more specificially a re-engraved date one.
Going back to about the 1965 to 1968 period, we used to get a regular visit, perhaps monthly, by a man from Southport called Wheeler.
He was always looking to buy wreath crowns, but only those from 1930 to 1936.
The other coins he wanted to buy included pennies from 1862 to 1868, halfpennies from 1870 to 1879, Edward halfcrowns from 1902 to 1909.
Typical coins he owned and was offering for sale included the above mentioned 1934 crown, 1869 pennies, 1871 halfpennies, and 1905 halfcrowns. These are all the key dates in their series.
It is very unusual for collectors to own all the key dates, but be looking to buy most of the common in a series, and this fact raised my suspicions. I had also noticed that some of his rare date coins looked to have have some "work" done around their dates.
Further, in the wreath crown series, he was never interested in any dated from 1927 to 1929. Similarly, he avoided 1910 halfcrowns, 1860 and 1861 pennies, which are a different variety from the 1869, and the same pattern with Victoria young head halfpennies.
We used to have a local competitor and fellow dealer called Peter Ireland, and I spoke to him about Wheeler. At first Peter seemed happy with the coins he had bought from Wheeler, but he was happy to re-check, and also to have a closer look at any subsequent coins he was offered by Wheeler.
This co-operation paid off, as on his next visit to Blackpool, Peter and I both identified highly suspicious coins in Wheeler's stock. We called the police, Wheeler confessed, was convicted and went to jail.
When he was arrested, and his home searched, there was no trace of the 1934 crown.
I called in to a Blackpool jeweller, a man called Fielding who ran Regan's jewellers, and I asked about various coins including a 1934 crown. He retreived the coin from his back room, I examined it, and could easily identify it as the same fake that Wheeler had offered to me. When I told Fielding this, he went into denial, even though I was able to tell him the name of the seller, and more details about the case. Fielding seemed clueless about the fact that I was one of two local numismatic coin dealers. I believe he subsequently sold the coin to an unsuspecting sucker, made a profit, avoided a loss, but lost any respect from me. I also informed Peter Ireland about this.
This was not the last time I have known jewellers to sell fake coins, sometimes in ignorance, sometimes in full knowledge. It is a very common occurrence.
I am still waiting for the faked 1934 crown to re-surface. If I do get to see it again, it will be very interesting when it's owner asks how and what I know about it.

The text above the chart i have found reads

The chart shows the RELATIVE price of a house over time when prices in gold and GBP.
It starts at 100 - that is 100 units of GBP and the amount of gold that GBP would buy in 1952.
So let's say it was 100 oz of gold in 1952.
Up to about 1972 increasing amounts of gold and GBP were needed to buy the house but relatively more gold was needed.
At the tail end of 1971 the dollar came off the gold standard. Less gold was needed to buy the house into the first half of the 1980's.
Then house prices start going up faster compared to gold. More gold is needed until 2005 after which the price of this average house has been falling in terms of gold.
@Roy In 1968 Decimalisation started to kick in. An excuse to put GBP prices up. The house price in terms of GBP went up but down in gold.
Since 2005 gold has been a better investment than housing.

I make the distinction between those that lie and those that merely mislead.
afaik mike maloney has not told/repeated lies. his data is correct/true but sometimes
    incomplete(hence implying misleading conclusions).
I criticise him more than most on the forums for misleading people, but as a 'pro buying
physical silver youtubers' goes, he is better than many others out there.

The Silver Forum is a safe place to buy. i have bought coins and bars from here many times.
Deal with known members with good trading feedback. For example someone like me is not going to risk years of membership with this forum by cheating anyone here. i value membership of this forum much higher than that.

The best deals tend to go quickly - unless you are a premium member you won't see these straightaway. If you think you are going to buy more than a few coins off the forum i would upgrade to premium membership. Silver level is fine to see the selling section.
i have activated the alert on the UK and EU selling section so i get emails but they don't come through quickly enough sometimes.
i have my computer on most of the time - my browser alerts me to new threads on this section.

With such a minimalistic description, and the total lack of photos, I think this is highly suspicious.
It could be someone who knows almost nothing about coins, but is more likely to be a scammer.
(Perhaps one who has been kicked off ebay) ☺️
It might be an idea to alert sixbid to the suspicions.
Many people might refrain from this if they were hoping they were going to get lucky and buy a £10K coin for £500. (Greed and fear).

Agreed, but note that the mintmark is not the only distinguishing feature. Some also have a little line around the edge of the coin where the gold paper meets to cover the chocolate. I fear this coin would not survive the bite test.

The 1917 London sovereign is very rare. It's not beyond the capabilities of an unscrupulous seller to 'modify' the mintmark of a colonial sovereign to give the appearance of no mintmark suggesting a London mint issue.

The Silver Forum is built on trust and integrity.

Whilst we believe that members should utilise the trading feedback system and TSF itself should not intervene in members trading between each other. On this occasion we have decided that it is better for the community to close this member's account.
Members who wish to list items for auction please understand the risks of doing so, please see this topic here on hidden reserves not being allowed, which is linked to in the QuickStart Guide to trading, and suggests to list an auction at a minimum starting price you are willing to accept. Or, what is more recommended; simply list your trade listing as a ‘for sale’ with your asking price. You have more flexibility when listing a ‘for sale’ listing opposed to an auction, in a ‘for sale’ listing you can set your price and invite offers and then always reduce your price if there was no interest at your original asking price. Any item that is listed as an auction, the seller should uphold their word and sell at the final auction price to the applicable winning bidder. It is also not possible to list an auction on TSF if you have listed your items elsewhere.
Please complete any outstanding trades with @ali187 before 24th June 2021 (so by the end of 23rd June 2021 UK forum server time), when their account will then subsequently be closed.

Disappointing to read the negative comments but I too would not take kindly to this response.
Last time I dealt with Dorset was several years ago and I had an excellent experience.
Maybe caught him on a bad day or was he being too familiar and simply joking with you ?

I think we are only seeing half the side of the story at the moment.  Can we see your message to them?
Some people make offers at 50% of the asking price, or 25% under spot, and in these situations it would be easy to understand an adverse reaction from the seller.
Declaration of interest: In the past I have bought two or three items from this dealer and everything has been fine.

These boxing cards can be expensive to buy. My mother in law gave these to me the other day and I looked them up to see what they would fetch. I was quite shocked at some of the prices but it all depends on what someone is willing to pay. There isn't a full set here, just 62 of them but there were over 100 in the series.

The house prices going up first and gold following is due to the gold standard till 1971. Nixon said, he had to "suspend" it because of gold price speculators. The speculation however took place because already before 1971 they printed more Dollars than the gold standard would have allowed - but gold had an official price which made gold too cheap compared to its actual value. Thus the gold price speculation and thus also the house prices going up first and gold catching up in the 1970s.
It would also be interesting to see an index for the number of hours an average earner needs to work to buy one house or a certain amount of gold. You would see you need to work much longer for the same amount of house or gold today, probably roundabout a factor of ten - really only very roughly (compared to the 1950s).
