Dorset coin company

Recommended Posts

Just had the displeasure of dealing with Terry at Dorset coin company

Nice coins but shocking attitude, rude and obnoxious

Won't be considering buying from there

Made a coin enquiry saying what would be your best price on the coin as I had bought from them in the past

Always provide balanced views when it's a dealer as its their business but you have to draw the line somewhere

Greeted with this shocking really

I think we are only seeing half the side of the story at the moment.  Can we see your message to them?

Some people make offers at 50% of the asking price, or 25% under spot, and in these situations it would be easy to understand an adverse reaction from the seller.

Declaration of interest: In the past I have bought two or three items from this dealer and everything has been fine.

I offered 380 for a saudi guinea does thst satisfy you @Zhorro?

With a feedback of over 2000 on here do you think I would offer below spot or 50 percent of the asking price of 450

They were being sold for 330 on here in march

You have a feedback of 86.

Do not confuse feedback with reputation points 🙂

Agreed.

C'mon, the comment about cutting the coin was funny but the other (sucker) does them no favours. Just move on and spend your money elsewhere :D

Coin was up at 450 I offered 380 which is a fair price for this coin considering gypsy just. Sold a graded ms66 at 450

Responded by saying what part of the coin do you want

I said thst not a great reponse I'm a previous customer to which he said thanks for your money sucker

So......

Been happy with the coins and service before but won't buy again doesn't mean other TSF members can't just a valid viewpoint IMO

But It makes me more vindicated why I dont buy or sell on ebay. its more hassle than its worth, when you have to deal with pillocks saying - well youve bought from me sucker! If some of these people had half a braincell.

I would say a few things here:

£380-420 is the going range for these retail direct.

ebay has high fees so no way a dealer would accept below the £420 mark. I know I wouldn’t.

I think a lot of dealers get fed up with low offers in your case you offered 15% less.

Keep in mind end fees and cost bud end up 10-16% plus they have other costs as ongoing business. Essentially your offer means they are making just about spot or a few quid on this coin.

May just have decided don’t want to deal with you in the future and decided to burn the bridge.

I have one spare at £380 plus post if you still want one.

Disappointing to read the negative comments but I too would not take kindly to this response.
Last time I dealt with Dorset was several years ago and I had an excellent experience.
Maybe caught him on a bad day or was he being too familiar and simply joking with you ?

I bought a proof coin described as mint condition but it arrived with a finger print on both sides. It was going for conservation and grading so I wasn't too fussed given the price. However, I'd be wary buying from them again.
