If CBDCs are going to be a thing (they probably are) then they will be blockchain based.
Blockchain requires internet, internet requires electricity....buy commodities!
The Stop Oil lot are wasting their time. And probably yours too.

Some of the posts on here are just plain daft.  Trade PMs with my neighbours??  Really??  Given that most of my neighbours are a worthless bunch of moronic cretins with no practical skills and for the most part no purpose in the world other than to sit farting in front of their TVs in between visits to Macdonalds, why on earth would I want to trade with them, and for what?   Some utterly ridiculous fairytale ideas coming out on here I'm sorry to say.
99.99% of my idiot neighbours wouldn't know what a silver or gold coin was if they fell over it. Even if they did know what it was they would have no use for it,  and I'd bet that's probably the case for 99.99% of the rest of the country.
Barter might work in some scenarios but if or when CBDCs are introduced they will be sold as a saving grace and a solution to every problem, they will be pushed hard by the goverment and their lackeys in the news media as something absolutely wonderful,  and welcomed with open arms by the average grinning idiot.  Most of them are more than halfway into their shackles already with their Apple Pay, their Paypal,  and all their social media apps and all the rest of it.

On this occasion yes. Just like to pick my fights that's all. Follow the heard, join the que, it's the British way. Just look at the stop oil lot, they are trying to make a difference and everyone hates them. Why? Because they are disrupting the status quo. I spent a lot of my younger years being p*ssed off with the system, even went on some marches and it's mentally tiresome and a waste of time to be frank. No doubt if we were french it would be a different story.

    Hello fellow TSF members,
I am in South Korea for a few months and have just read that the city of Ulsan is holding its first coin / money fair this month.
This is something I can’t miss and so I will be taking a day trip to go to the fair and will upload a few photos of the exhibition and anything I may buy there to this post.
Below is a brief overview of the event and interestingly it mentions that coin collecting has boomed in Korea during the COVID lock down. So this seems to be a global phenomenon.

There are some older ones dating back to the Suharto era, but I don't think they've minted anything like that for a while. Gold bars are pretty much where it's at.  This is P.T. Antam's online retail site (in Bhasa).  Unfortunately you need an Indonesian I.D. card number to open an account.
    https://www.logammulia.com/id/purchase/gold
Emas Batangan means Gold Bar in Bhasa.
Most jewellers in a shopping mall have a franchise for buying and selling investment gold.  The price and spreads are regulated by the government but tends to track spot prices.  I'm not sure how often they are updated.
And here's a search for emas batangan on Tokopedia (a local equivalent to Ebay).  Kuningan means Brass and Tiruan means fake, by the way.  I'll leave translating imitasi and replika as an exercise for the reader.

Actually there's one little caveat with this.  Gold used to attract VAT at 11% in Indonesia, and there are some moves afoot to abolish this, but I can't get any definitive answer as to whether this has actually happened.

It's a bit like that in Indonesia too.  It's an Islam thing - interest bearing savings accounts are technically usury, so the Quran's prescribed method of saving is to hold gold.  This tends to have an influence on social norms anywhere Islam got big, so a lot of folks stack gold, even if they're not particularly devout.  In Indonesia the market is so big that there's a state owned mining company (P.T. Anneka Tambang) that produces retail gold products specifically for that market, and a lot of jewellers operate a franchise to buy and sell investment gold.
Antam is LBMA Good Delivery accredited and the market is somewhat regulated as it functions as a proxy for banking, so the bars themselves are by all accounts pretty kosher.  They even have a PAMP-style verification app that you can install, but it's iPhone only.  Their small bars (1-3g) also tend to have relatively modest spreads - by London standards anyway.

With respect people's attitudes are wrong. They find stuff on the doorstep and are happy they turned up. Sadly this just let's the courier off the hook and next time they'll do just the same until the luck runs out. You'd have every right to say the parcels never arrived ( which I'm told happens quite often ). It's then up to the couriers to prove it was delived. A photo of parcel on doorstep means nothing without a signature.

i was a buyer in the 2011 highs - these were the prices i was paying as silver hits its most recent highs
Attached my monthly purchases from April 2011
Absolutely no shortage of buyers or sellers then as lots were jumping on the silver train, as the next stop was £50oz and beyond
Pumping liking hell on youtube and this was the breakout we had all been waiting of since 1980
Roll the clock forward now onto 11 years to 2022 today and a 1oz of silver coin can be still be bought for a little less the all times high
So make of that what you will
