Anyone mocking Gammon is missing out on great educational videos. Your loss.
Given how the US has weaponized the financial system against their perceived enemies, this kind of reaction from Russia makes total sense. Pricing 1 ounce of gold per 1000 barrels would create insane demand for gold and the demand for physical on a global basis would soar. Russia already has their gold but they'd also be gathering a substantial amount of additional gold by offering this arbitrage opportunity to traders.
It'd be a brilliant plan because it'd wreak havoc in Western financial markets and we'd discover the non-manipulated price of gold or more accurately a manipulated price in a positive direction for gold.
As a holder of gold/silver and mining stocks, I hope they do this.

Apologies to all as I'm a terrible photographer and perhaps even worse at organization and presentation:).

Agreed. It'd be crazy to buy a standard bullion coin over these.

I think the design is ok, and I certainly prefer the Queen's Beasts to this point as far as designs go, but I'm still buying the bullion.  I think it's very hard to go wrong at new release, even if you hate the design (assuming you want to buy metals, as you are still exposed to spot price changes).  As an example, here are the current prices at SDBullion (where I bought) for a single coin:
    1oz gold 2022 Tudor Lion: $1,946.99
    1oz gold 2022 Britannia: $1,952.70
    1oz gold 2022 Eagle: $1,982.86
    1oz gold 2022 Maple: $1,964.70
    1oz gold 2022 Kangaroo: $1,952.70
You get an oz of gold (same story with the silver, and 1/4oz gold) for less than other bullion, plus a free embedded option that a premium will develop.  This was also true of every one of the Queen's Beasts...they were cheaper than other bullion at release, and of course a nice premium did in fact develop.  And if there is never a premium, this coin is not going to be worth less than other of the other coins above.  The other coins will also almost certainly not develop a premium.  So assuming you want exposure to gold or silver, I think these are a great buy.

I'm American and totally agree. US foreign policy is a disastrous nightmare and we're basically running the one world order. The US would be wise to take the L but the people who have the real power in my country feel like they are entitled to micromanage everything on earth. They are pure evil.

Saying such things might look good for the US domestic market, and it might cheer up the war hawks in the US media, but the rest of the world knows that the US is completely impotent when it comes to threatening dollar embargoes on Russia.  Russia has already sorted out alternative means and no longer needs to comply with trading in US dollars or the swift system.  If Russia wanted to take the Ukraine, there isn't a damn thing that the US or Europe could do about it.  Western powers started all of this mess in Ukraine by funding the overthrow of the government.  Russia is now in a position to stop further "progress" and will not allow this creep to continue.  It would be wise of Western powers to recognise the mess they've got themselves into and simply back off and "take the L".
A decade of pointless partial sanctions has hardened Russia into being virtually sanction proof now.  Not only that, they're also holding the whip hand, controlling the heating supply for Europe.  Years of decadent and whimsical fantasy about windmills and solar panels, means that Europe now has third world energy security.  They quite literally couldn't face a winter at war with Russia without their people freezing.
So in the end it's just a bit of bluster to make Brandon look tough while Blinken runs cap in hand to meet Lavrov and the UK defence secretary invites his counterpart for a meeting in London.  They overcooked it and they know it.

In addition to this, I feel the tide is turning in my social/work circles about how to deal with inflation. I don't mention my gold/silver stack to anyone but close family, though I'm starting to hear gold crop up in conversations where I never have before.
If just 1% of developed countries start to save a little in precious metals, we'll see huge increases in prices IMO.

And they are simply not willing to understand it and the consequences lead them into economic learning difficulties throughout their whole entire life. By the way, make no mistake about what I just typed about economic learning difficulties, this can be confirmed by simply asking the average person on how currency is created, and the usual response is: they simply dont care. Imagine being so ignorant, arrogant and outright delusional to the point that actually believing the existence of currency isnt worth caring about when it consumes 60% of the average persons entire life. To refuse to even look into it is not only incredible but absolutely an indication of slavery.

Its not in doubt. PMs, under a fiat system IS wealth preservation. Central bankers and governments do not want the lower classes to learn this, instead they follow the narrative that credit systems (to believe - fiat worthless paper) are better. Unfortunately many people actually believe that notes are more valuable than Gold. Its an astounding reality.

Looks very nice. The history of Spain, dating back to the Carthaginians and Romans to exploring the New World ,has been shaped by precious metals more than any other country. It's about time the Spanish had a bullion coin. I would love to see more variety than the mints we have(Hoping for Swiss, Italian, Japanese to make bullion coins and for the Russians to be more active) The pieces of eight design is so beautiful and iconic.
Will this be available to US investors and will there be a silver version?
