Has President Biden just weaponized the US Dollar and given a boost to gold?

In yesterday’s Press Conference, President Biden stated that if Russia were to invade Ukraine, sanctions will make it impossible for Russian banks to deal in US dollars.  This would seem to be a blatant weaponization of the US Dollar.

In recent years Russia and China have been buying gold in order to reduce their reliance on the US Dollar.

It would seem likely that Biden’s stance will stimulate further demand for gold from Russia and China.

In addition to this, I feel the tide is turning in my social/work circles about how to deal with inflation. I don't mention my gold/silver stack to anyone but close family, though I'm starting to hear gold crop up in conversations where I never have before.

If just 1% of developed countries start to save a little in precious metals, we'll see huge increases in prices IMO.

With Russia running down it's USD reserves and bolstering other assets and currencies it wouldn't be the biggest issue for them. Russia would cut deals with Euro and Asian countries to trade in a neutral currency day Euro's and that'd be that. Putin can also opt to push the crypto wagon and become the first large nation to settle international trade in whatever crypto currency (BTC for example) and really put the screws on the USD.

Biden's threats are like the "Boogeyman" under the bed....the kiddies believe in him and are scared, but the adults know it's all BS.

Natural gas supplies to Europe would dry up quickly.

US doesnt like Russia building gas pipelines into mainland Europe and essentially getting wealther. So Ukraine is the proxy. All Geopolitics to hinder Russian Oil and Gas profits and most Westerns believe its all about Putin being a dictator.

Germany is quiet… While it buys from Russia.

If Washington attempt to force through these sanctions via NATO, I think it undoubtedly proves that they put dollar protection above everything and everyone.

How much encouragement would Berlin need to start looking East?

Saying such things might look good for the US domestic market, and it might cheer up the war hawks in the US media, but the rest of the world knows that the US is completely impotent when it comes to threatening dollar embargoes on Russia.  Russia has already sorted out alternative means and no longer needs to comply with trading in US dollars or the swift system.  If Russia wanted to take the Ukraine, there isn't a damn thing that the US or Europe could do about it.  Western powers started all of this mess in Ukraine by funding the overthrow of the government.  Russia is now in a position to stop further "progress" and will not allow this creep to continue.  It would be wise of Western powers to recognise the mess they've got themselves into and simply back off and "take the L".

A decade of pointless partial sanctions has hardened Russia into being virtually sanction proof now.  Not only that, they're also holding the whip hand, controlling the heating supply for Europe.  Years of decadent and whimsical fantasy about windmills and solar panels, means that Europe now has third world energy security.  They quite literally couldn't face a winter at war with Russia without their people freezing.

So in the end it's just a bit of bluster to make Brandon look tough while Blinken runs cap in hand to meet Lavrov and the UK defence secretary invites his counterpart for a meeting in London.  They overcooked it and they know it.

Interesting analysis from The Duran has just come in.  These guys tend to have excellent analysis on Russian issues in the alt media.  This episode makes the assessment that it's basically all about a silly plan from Brandon's handlers to make him look like JFK in some sort of cuban missile crisis re-enactment.  Instead he just looks like an idiot.

Crimea and (ahem, cough cough) port access to the Black Sea and beyond….strategic area.

Crimea is already under Russian control so there's really not much to gain from invading Ukraine.

Also, the Turks who are NATO members could close the Bosporus strait to the Russian Navy if tensions were to rise.

Russia's red line has always been the encroachment of NATO onto their actual border.  Western political forces have been pushing that for a long time.  It's a bad idea and they should let it go.

Protection of Crimea, solidifying its control and including pipelines.

I'm American and totally agree. US foreign policy is a disastrous nightmare and we're basically running the one world order. The US would be wise to take the L but the people who have the real power in my country feel like they are entitled to micromanage everything on earth. They are pure evil.
