  1. Yes that die crack is rather deep below the N Some people might regard it as having unbarred A's but you can clearly see where the punch is broken. Depends how you define unbarred I suppose? Personally I am only interested when the engraver has used an inverted V instead of a A
  2. Don't get it I'm afraid. There is no difference between coins of the same denomination regardless of which box they are in. They were put in boxes at random after all. In fact you'd be doing the Mint a favour, putting all the rotten eggs in one basket and saving them the trouble of dealing with more than one return. Also saving them return postage.
  3. So you can go to the CC premises in person to view their auction items? I didn't know that.
  4. Terms within their T&C that can be deemed as unfair or go against current consumer law cannot be enforced.
  5. There will be the equivalent of the plunge protection team for the DOW JONES ready for whenever gold overreaches their cutoff level, but in reverse.
  6. was always going to get a knock once the US markets opened
  7. Funny thing about them. I first bought a single bullion sov from them about 4 years, ticked the "no contact" box on the checkout and never received an unsolicited mailshot from them.... until a couple of weeks ago. Since then I'm receiving them like confetti, 2 this morning in fact. Frick knows what the hell has got into their customer database to change things?
  8. Well be sure to let me know in advance when you screw A's price strategy by reducing your randem sovereigns to £200 a pop!😊
  9. That is interesting. I have heard of people being successful with coin claims but also others who were not. Are you saying you were the ebay seller and you used the actual ebay sales receipt of the coin that went missing as your evidence of value or a previous ebay receipt when you bought the coin?
  10. You can get cover up to £100 if you use 24hr or 48hr Tracked and Signed direct from the RM website, not available in POs for some reason. Whether you would get them to actually pay out on bullion is another matter of course.😁
  11. It depends at what point you regard the production process to cease? It could be argued this would be the point at which the coin is ejected from the die. Any treatment afterwards would be post-production and open to treatment on an individual basis i.e. some could be treated with kid gloves, some thrown into a skip tossed around etc
  12. The solder can be melted and the mount removed. However, you can't get all the solder off the coin without dissolving it off chemically. As i said, when you do this, there is always damage left behind due to the original heat used to solder.
  13. Personally I would remove the mount. I would rather have a slightly marked coin than one obviously ruined by the mount and is no longer a coin. It can be done easily by the amateur, it takes time but the solder can be removed completely. I have done loads of these but invariably the edge has been damaged by the original soldering heat. How much it is disfigured you can't tell until you do it. I don't know if an expert jeweller can repair the edge damage satisfactorily, I did know a pro who could do a really good job but he's not in business any more.
  14. They are not very interesting bullion coins these days, but in the future, if people have any interest in them at all, these will be the ones. They will want both so if there is any significant difference in mintages, the lowest number.
  15. Well why only stick with one proof sov every year, why not 2? 3? 4?
  16. you buy bullion coins from the Mint? bit expensive, what?
  17. Is there such a thing?
  18. It really is a stunning coin. Probably the best looking issue since 1989
  19. Indeed, I expected it to be smashed down.
  20. Yes, Dave used to be on here, it was always interesting with him around😁
  21. I don't know how long the "information" you mention has been on their website, but it never ceases to amaze me how quickly the Google bot finds everything on the WWW so quickly. Anyway, I have been buying from the said dealer for many years and have never regarded them as a "Coin" dealer merely a "Bullion" one with little or no numismatic expertise. I therefore would never take much notice of any info they post. Others less experienced may well not know this and therefore your criticism is valid. I'm sure I won't be the only one here who has benefited from said lack of numismatic knowledge by snapping up real bargains from their website on many occasions.😊
  22. I try not to use Google if I can help it but I made an exception in this case!😎
