  1. Depends who you are saying it to😎

    Gold Premiums

    Should have sent them fakes
  3. Difficult to imagine how you could get a genuine sovereign into this state ie the edge and rim, under reasonable use. Even with moderate abuse. Don't think there's any way being in a jewellery holder could have done it. Could just be the photo lighting but the edges of all the relief details look too sharp and angular.
  4. £750 sticks in my mind as it was late 2015 and the last really low spot price in recent times, we were buying sovs for £180 ish. It was the days of HGM selling shields for 5 - 10% premium or so.
  5. I've been taking lessons from Wonga😁
  6. THis is what I have been told about when stock will be available, although it doesn't guarantee delivery. Notice some are available in batches. Some clearly have been sent out already! 5 coin set 3/2/23 and 24/2/23 4 coin set 3/2/23 and 17/2/23 3 coin set 27/1/23 Full sovereign 3/2/23 Half sovereign 17/2/23 All in all, a right poor do, and I have expressed my feelings accordingly😁
  7. It may be for a sovereign in today's market, not saying you're right but may be, I haven't ckecked, but usually, scrap is less than spot.
  8. No probs, it's p*ssing it down here, I have time to spare😁
  9. Further to my "rant" on another topic😉 https://www.thesilverforum.com/topic/71932-how-many-forum-members-as-percentage-have-been-scammed-by-new-sellers/page/8/#comment-791386 Members who possibly have too much time on their hands or just don't value the time other members have to spend researching current prices and photographing the coins in question. Couple this with being cheapskate and wanting to buy coins on here for knockdown prices. This usually manifests as a wanted ad for xxxxx "at a reasonable price". I've started ignoring these now as by the time I take pictures and work out what I would consider a fair and reasonable price, they've either changed their mind or really wanted a firesale price. If that is the case, whay not just say so up front? If someone wants to sell a coin, they will be listing it. If a buyer puts up a wanted ad they are trying to entice someone who is not actively looking to sell, to sell. They are asking for a favour and consequently should treat the seller with a little respect. Regarding haggling, I hate low-ball offers. I think it shows disrespect, certainly for a seller who obviously knows the value of things. It is also timewasting. If a seller is desperate to sell and might consider a low offer, it is generally obvious from the listing. I know often the seller might make an allowance for offers in their original price, but this will be minor.
  10. current spot price for a sovereign is £363, scrap would be a few % points less
  11. Make a listing in the "for sale" section at a price that similar bullion coins have been recently selling for (say 4 - 5% premium) , or just let me buy it for spot😉
  12. Where can you pick those up at that price? Recent ebay sales (by auction) £93 upwards and higher for BIN sales.
  13. I believe Facebook marketplace/trading groups are a bit like the wildwest. I don't know for sure because I have never used FB, for trading or otherwise. I have heard of horrendous tales of buyers being ripped off and scammed in the name of open market trading in the last few years. Trading on this forum has grown from it's roots as a few deals between members many of whom had gained their silver stacking spurs together on other forums. Then, as the forum grew, more and more deals were struck on the basis of trust between people of like minds and interests. Generally members strove to keep costs down by adopting fee-free money transfer avenues that invariably offered no insurance to either party. This section of the forum has grown and grown, picking up dealers and part-time dealers along the way. It works because of it's history and gradual evolution. Perhaps the alternatives of ebay and FB have helped to keep out the scammers by providing them with an easier environment in which to operate and, because this forum is self-policing to a large extent, the current "system" has evolved? As someone said earlier, if it ain't broken, don't try to fix it, or something like that😁 Personally, I get annoyed when new members come here and try to change the culture and moan when everyone here won't play by their rules. It's very impolite and lacks class IMO. Usually though, they disappear fairly quickly.😊

    Gold Premiums

Fractional sovereigns, fractional britannias etc fine, as the baseline coin is known, but simply fractional gold without an accepted definition of the "whole" is confusing.

    Gold Premiums

I always thought the use of the word "fractional" with regards to gold coins was pointless and frankly silly. Gold has never been practically traded as a 1 oz coin or in any other format; as previously stated, 1oz coins are a relatively new invention.
  16. Interesting, £695. What was the old price? Grief, my memory is cr*p😁
