    Gold Premiums

    There's that word "should" again😉

    Gold Premiums

Very lttle supply it seems at the moment, I doubt the dealers are getting much stock in nor selling much at those premiums. I've been waiting for some bullion sovs from my favourite dealer for weeks now.
  3. You lucky people who have received theirs, what's the relief like on the reverse? It's looking quite high on some of the pictures so far. Would be awesome if it is high!😊
  4. Sounds nice but half the agreed deal may still be enough for the seller to do a runner😉
  5. No one really knows. I am certain it has happened but equally sure it is very rare. However that does not mean it won't happen in the future. Most members are intelligent people and do a risk assessment and take appropriate precautions based on that. You seem to be taking personal exception to this process. On the subject of trust; there are some members on here that I would happily trust to send me coin purchases by 1st class mail without proof of posting. Indeed I have used some overseas members as intermediaries in coin purchases and trusted them to forward the coins to me.
  6. 1 - There are plenty of ways and several members have already aluded to them. Your point 3 is one good start😉 2 - It is indeed but in a forum sale someone has to trust first. The question is which direction is the safer option? See 3 below 3 - I just don't get why some new new members/sellers can't get their heads around this. It must say something about their attitude to others. They expect others to trust them, a completely new member with no feedback/forum interaction, a total stranger to whom they expect others to send hundreds, maybe thousands in the hope they will fulfil their obligation to send the coins. This with only bank account details or paypal email address. How difficult would that be to chase if they were scammed? On the other side you have an established forum member with possibly hundreds of positive feedback, thousands of helpful forum posts etc etc and with the crucial addition that you know their address! I know where my money would go.
  7. I have always found it possible to contact the local DO direct. They have very few opening hours these days, only 2 in the morning at my local, and rarely pick up the phone outside of these hours. In my experience they are usually very helpful but I could just have been lucky. A few times over the last couple of months they have tracked down the whereabouts of seemingly lost packages. If you like, PM me the details I will try and phone them for you on Tuesday after the Bank Holiday.
  8. Last day of sales I believe so in theory mintage is going to be only 786😊 and that begs the question of what happens to any that get returned after delivery? In theory they can't return them to retail sale😮
  9. I wouldn't bank on it. As previously said, many dealers have been fooled by this coin, I have seen more than a few obvious fakes in auctions over the years and you'd be surprised by which auction houses as well😮 Allowing for the fact that photos rarely tell the full tale and these are good but not top notch, I would guess this coin is fake but one of the pretty good ones with none of the obvious faults often seen. There seem to be several "poor" details that appear to be too indistinct to be genuine. If it were me I would get it graded as soon as. The money will not be wasted; it is a decent grade and having it in a holder will increase it's value substantially. If it turns out to be fake, well at least you'll know☹️
  10. Damn, I've been incorrectly using 0.2354 all this time and introducing a 0.0085% error into all my sovereign calculations. Sorry that should be 0.00849617%😉
  11. No such word as "should" in this hobby. Coins will sell according to market sentiment and supply/demand. Ex-mount coins will often sell at scrap values if they are bog-standard and hold no collecting value. However, if the damage isn't to bad they can sell as bullion grade or if rare, can sell for appropriately higher prices.
  12. I think I used them a couple of times years ago, were fine. Difficult to remember as loads of the German dealers have similar names.
  13. I must have been unlucky as I reckon a third of my sovs got 69, £2 better and £5 perfect. The star of the lot was the half with a 100% 70 grading. This is unusual as I find the half is usually the worst by far.
  14. Not sure what relevance that has? Please explain as Ebay organise their own payments now and Paypal doesn't need to have anything to do with it.
  15. but for those that insist on free shipping, only £708 😎
  16. No, they cover your actual loss, ie what you paid for it. It's a scam, as you probably paid half what it would cost to buy it now. I wish someone would take them to court about this unfair term in their T&Q
  17. They are too yellow, don't look like real gold😁
  18. Personally don't see the point to silver brit sets, other than to make profit for the mint. I did collect every year though, up until a couple of years ago. Storage is a pain of course so I displayed the 1 oz and left the others in the boxes in a cupboard somewhere. The smaller ones, especially the tiny ones, aren't worth a jot as most of them are horribly tarnished. The sets haven't held their value at all and can usually be picked up these days for a song.
  19. I've never seen or heard of these but my instant reaction on seeing the pictures was "fake"!
