Had my piedfort delivered today. Beautiful coin. Originally I was going to skip this one but it got the better of me last week and I bought one directly from the mint. Turned out to be a great decision. Also had a half sovereign delivered from Atkinson's today that I was waiting for the price to drop on but with the death of the queen I felt the impulse to pick it up that day and keep for my granddaughter.

    Another lovely Sixpence.
Anne ‘Pre Union’ Vigo 1703 Sixpence, first bust left with VIGO** below, rev. Plain angles with four strings in harp S.3590 there is a scratch through hair and some hay marking* but nevertheless, it looks a nice example for the collection- practically EF?

    * hay marking- entirely normal black streaky flecks in the metal, sometimes called "haymarks," caused by the alloyed silver containing tin, which came in part from Midlands and Welsh mines.
** VIGO- hallmarked to designate it was made from silver captured from the Spanish at Vigo Bay (with which it was mixed, with silver from homeland mines as stated above)

My Tudor beast's 2 coin set turned up, and the same as @Orpster marks on the queen's neck, plus 3 white spots on the coin. So far that's all 2 coins and set I've received with the Yale of Beaufort gone back.

Big thanks to @FlorinCollector for this winning prize in our friendly trade 👀
Could have easily sent a rusted 1oz anything but chose to go the premium route and I'm genuinely touched.

Saw these today...not my usual bag when it comes to stacking but couldn't say no to these limited editions.
Hot off the presses from Perth Mint.
The "Sixty Years of James Bond" Family Coat of Arms.  I wasn't a fan of RM 007 Bullion range but this one be it a Perth Mint offering does catch my fancy. Simple and elegant.
Mintage 25,000 with only 1,000 carded.

Also from Perth Mint..... "GAMES THROUGH THE AGES 2022 2oz SILVER ANTIQUED COIN".....First in the new series which sadly looks like I'm locked into now. Once again not my usual thing but this is just stunning and a full set...well...why the hell not. Mintage 2,500

I may divide opinion posting this, but I think I feel as many others do on this forum, despite the news as of late, that today’s news has been a shock.
This is a huge shock, albeit expected, given HM The Queens ageing years. She’s the only monarch that those under 70 years old has known.
I’ve read some not so many dislikable and distasteful comments on the forum today.
But, I think, no matter what one’s own option is that HM The Queen has given so much to all of us. A duty to the end.
But above all she was a mother, grandmother and a great-grandmother mother.
I’ve looked in and out of the forum this afternoon and this evening. But no matter wether you’re a modern stacker, an old stacker, a collector of Gillick sovereigns or modern releases, be that the Tudor Beast’s or The Monarchs collection with Edward VII resale imminent.
Many people, like myself of this country and also most people of the forum, feel a ‘shift’, a change, has happened today. Within a day a changing of the guard as it were.
HM The Queen’s passing is a great loss to our country of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
I wasn’t sure wether to share this with the the wider forum but I will, as I feel I’m mostly amongst friends, but HM The Queen awarded my grandfather with his MBE some 20 years ago.
It was the happiest day of my grandfathers life.
He said to me “She was gracious, warm, kind and showed an interest in my achievement at the same time.”
We are at the end of an era. Regardless of what we collect or stack, we are at the end of a remarkable era.
I watched the news today, as many others did, the announcement of HM The Queen’s passing and I’m not ashamed to say, I shed a tear when the news was announced.
But, albeit a fictional character, Padding Bear had the right words for HM The Queen’s reign at her Platinum Jubilee in one sentence “Thank you Ma’am, for everything”.
Lastly, I’ll leave this photograph of HM The Queen.
How beautiful she looked. How beautiful she’ll remain.
This is very odd to write on the forum, but here goes.
    GOD SAVE THE KING.

Gold £1 Cities Ultra Cameo Mortuary Slabs   The 2010-11 4-coin set of gold Cities was offered to me at an excellent price by @Jaconet. Although pretty much a perfect graded set (3x PF70, 1x PF69), I aim at some stage to "upgrade" them to an original boxed encapsulated set for my own requirements.   Mintages were fairly low, varying between 499 (Edinburgh) and 950 (London).   Eighteen round pounds were individually available in gold and I now require just three - 2005 (Menai Straits Bridge), 2006 (Egyptian Bridge) and 2016 (Last Round Pound) are still outstanding.

I wanted to get one of these one the day it was launched but missed out. Luckily this one was on eBay for just a few quid more than it would have originally gone for. After fees, the seller would have made a loss. But anyway, coin is lovely, but Georgie Buy reminds me of John from Masterchef!!

Visited the Royal Mint today for the VIP tour. Picked up two 2022 strike your own proof sovereigns.
Well worth the tour just to be able to pick up the coins at near issue price….  and the fact I was able to do my own QC on them!
