Almost 2500 years of coin minting evolution. The Cook Island's 1 OZ silver Pegasos together with , a Corinthian silver Drachm Pegasos from around 350BC with a portrait of Aphrodite. For sure, that would be my favorite goddess in ancient Greece. If i had the time to watch trees and clouds, i would think about what has been paid with this coin 2000 years ago.
I'm a fanboy of many CIT Smartminting coins. Crazy accurate strikings and unbelievable reliefs. And this one is a great example of their abilities.

A good selection of Great Engarvers pieces in St James auction sale today
The first coin auction since the Queens passing. Looks like some strong values attained across the board

Pick up today from the jewellers in town,
Sold to them by the family of a chap who had passed away, found in a box in his attic along with some other 1966 stuff, mostly world cup related. Probably some of the best condition Gillicks I have ever picked up.

This is really bad….these turned up an I forgot I ordered them….a crying shame this is likely to be the last time we see QEII on a Tudor Beast coin.
The microdot fields are sublime, I like these more than the proof coins, especially the reverse frosting effect of the obverse.

Had my piedfort delivered today. Beautiful coin. Originally I was going to skip this one but it got the better of me last week and I bought one directly from the mint. Turned out to be a great decision. Also had a half sovereign delivered from Atkinson's today that I was waiting for the price to drop on but with the death of the queen I felt the impulse to pick it up that day and keep for my granddaughter.

Frenchie reacted to Foster88 in HM The Queen Elizabeth II
I may divide opinion posting this, but I think I feel as many others do on this forum, despite the news as of late, that today’s news has been a shock.
This is a huge shock, albeit expected, given HM The Queens ageing years. She’s the only monarch that those under 70 years old has known.
I’ve read some not so many dislikable and distasteful comments on the forum today.
But, I think, no matter what one’s own option is that HM The Queen has given so much to all of us. A duty to the end.
But above all she was a mother, grandmother and a great-grandmother mother.
I’ve looked in and out of the forum this afternoon and this evening. But no matter wether you’re a modern stacker, an old stacker, a collector of Gillick sovereigns or modern releases, be that the Tudor Beast’s or The Monarchs collection with Edward VII resale imminent.
Many people, like myself of this country and also most people of the forum, feel a ‘shift’, a change, has happened today. Within a day a changing of the guard as it were.
HM The Queen’s passing is a great loss to our country of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
I wasn’t sure wether to share this with the the wider forum but I will, as I feel I’m mostly amongst friends, but HM The Queen awarded my grandfather with his MBE some 20 years ago.
It was the happiest day of my grandfathers life.
He said to me “She was gracious, warm, kind and showed an interest in my achievement at the same time.”
We are at the end of an era. Regardless of what we collect or stack, we are at the end of a remarkable era.
I watched the news today, as many others did, the announcement of HM The Queen’s passing and I’m not ashamed to say, I shed a tear when the news was announced.
But, albeit a fictional character, Padding Bear had the right words for HM The Queen’s reign at her Platinum Jubilee in one sentence “Thank you Ma’am, for everything”.
Lastly, I’ll leave this photograph of HM The Queen.
How beautiful she looked. How beautiful she’ll remain.
This is very odd to write on the forum, but here goes.
GOD SAVE THE KING.

Today I received this beauty back from grading courtesy of @CoinsOfTheRealmAuctions. My first time having anything graded so I'm very thankful to COR for such a seamless service. And naturally I'm very happy with the outcome - got to admit I would have been miffed if it hadn't come back a 70 (as snobby as that sounds!)

The brand new 100x1g valcambi and the double sov. The sov's picture hasn't been edited. It is the sheer shiny blinding golden light reflecting off the coin.

I hope they do. I’m not keen on that Petition Crown restrike.
Oh thank God for that. 😅
I agree. The William Wyon George and Dragon would be awesome.

Frenchie reacted to GoldDiggerDave in Royal Mint - Great Engravers 2021 - Gothic Crown information
Considering JC is almost a living legend I could see his depiction of George and the dragon on a sovereign at some point.
No doubt if QEII becomes the longest serving monarch, we would see a flood of special coins.
As the the GE, WW George and the dragon would be a nice addition,

I believe they are moving towards single coins rather than doing a coin for each side.

Frenchie got a reaction from GoldDiggerDave in Royal Mint - Great Engravers 2021 - Gothic Crown information
I am not sure that doing a set of 2 coins each year would be the wise for the RM (and expensive for collectors), especially in those incertain times, with a weak demand for modern coins. The WW St George and the dragon would be obvious to me (because I love it ). The question is if the RM would change their mind releasing another WW design after the GC
