They offer it at cost to you so they can build their spend history with the RM. You could easily get into the higher tiers and it wouldn't cost you a penny.

I'm sure that is actually happening and it's quite astounding that punters are playing the game and actively encouraging the practice. All it would take is for people to stop buying secondary market coins at massively inflated prices and the flipping would stop. Unfortunately the lure of an easy 1-2 hundred pounds (and subsequent diminishing returns as a coin gets re-sold again and again) is too tempting. 
Logically anyone with any coin collecting experience (especially with RM coins) knows that the market is saturated and that even the low mintage coins ultimately end up finding a level well below the initial frenzy.. There are simply a lot more flippers than collectors.

I don't know how everyone is keeping up with these. I really like the coin but I'm tapped out on my coin buying. Any sort of downturn or slow down will wreck this new royal mint business model I believe. I have more than one hobby sadly and this is getting a bit much. 

@ArgentSmith Well done! Like most of these releases, the best returns are to who is quickest out the gate. 

Too many coins too fast for me… back to the sanity of beaten up old early 20th century bullion sovs…..felt like a port in a rough sea after the last few months of ever increasing series, umissables and speculative fomo. Good luck to all with this series, I hope it treats you well but it is not for me.
 

Skipped this release - did not like the look of the coin. Also feel it will perform poorly, simply as the coins do not seem anywhere near as popular. 2oz gold was available hours after release. Compared that to minutes for the Gothic Crown 2oz gold. Platinum Jubilee 2oz gold was also gone quite quickly.

i bet a good few folk are caught out seeing the 100 mintage of the 1oz gold and not see the maximum total mintage of 610 
If they bought to grade and find out there is already for 100+ PF70s to contend with already sat in dealer(s) hands
Hope im right with my gut feel about sitting out on the side lines with this release

Not too sure but we are going to be back to back with Tudor beast and gothic. Don't know what way about. The production team must be working weekends.

Not a problem sir..you mentioned a fight???? Seems that individuals on here such as me and others  can not have a view without being chastised and undermined with people like you who have a self important, superior view that puts people like me and others who just express their views without  any malice to anyone..but your so called experience on coins makes you believe you can undermine our view...which I and others don't really care about..bullus are everywhere in this world..

Grade them if you ever decide to sell if grading is still in vogue then. Until then, enjoy them how you like.
