Yes thats the one I was meaning and that is true it would be weird. I also found all those people standing outside the palace weird.
It looked nice that they were there to show support.
until the proclamation was put up and everyone had their phone out it just looked like a bad episode of black mirror

Good on them wish I was smart enough to buy the right stuff in a hype train like what will be the next few days.
Will help out with their lecky bills

I sold mine on to another forum member at cost price. I have no regrets at all. Easy to get caught up in the hype. It was a beautiful coin and frankly, if all people are worried about is flipping them for a quick buck, good luck to them.

Looks like they have been cleaned out of the bunc annual sets. I saw one coin dealer bump the price up from the RRP of £60 to £125 and then later to £195 since yesterday.

The Tudor Beasts Yale will be an interesting one as it’s dated 2023 but we won’t have had a queen in 2023

kimchi reacted to ArcaneCollector in The best (safest/cheapest) way to send just one silver coin from the UK to the US?
Post it to someone in Mexico, and they can just walk it across the open border 😛.

Just for anyone wanting them, the £30 and £60 annual coin sets are available to order on RM website and you can actually checkout and order them.
Better than paying £350+ on ebay

Also Charles wants to be seen as a modern, progressive king, while stressing continuity. So I expect him to ditch the crown, but keep the earrings

They're already designed!
Anyway I'm outta here.
Shocked by some on here, but sadly not surprised.

Received my piedfort today of all days, RIP Queen Elizabeth II.

Luckily I bought mine a few days ago but I wouldn't feel bad buying one now. It'll be one of those things that you'll remember where you were and what you were doing moments when every time you look at it.

I would say let it be someone else.
Sometimes (?) morals and a good heart are the only thing that counts, imvho.
'Do you remember when Queen Elizabeth passed away, Daddy?'
'Oh but of course! I was busy buying as many coins as I could for hopefully maximum profit! I also did post RIP QEII btw'.
Shocking, shame on some of you.

To add, Charles will likely be somewhat 'divisive'...I am certain they will make the changeover as long, drawn-out, and 'subtle' as possible to protect the 'institution'...

They will have to find a new Sovereign reverse design, as he surely won't want St George riding his wife on it...

Sure, nobody would attempt to withdraw all the circulating coinage and replace it with new stuff.
It would be hugely wasteful and expensive.
Before the UK went decimal in 1971, we were still using coins of Elizabeth II, George VI, George V, Edward VII, Victoria, and we even occasionally saw coins of William IV, George IV, or George III, going back to about 1816.

It may depend on the date of the year when the monarch dies.
It is normal, traditional, and practical to continue using exisiting dies, and to issue planned and approved coinage, for the current year, and certainly into the next year if the death occurs late in the year.
This, and similar questions have been cropping up more frequently recently, on TSF and elsewhere.
We are about to produce a definitive guide on the subject.

... I reckon that's why they decided on the Tudor Beasts - no mention of a Single Monarch 😏
