kimchi got a reaction from Stuntman in 2022 Sovereign design revealed?
I'm in two three minds on this.
Firstly I think that QEII fully deserved a memorial Sov, which obviously could not be Charles' first year 'proper'.
I also think they faced a difficult decision with the first Charles III release, as he's somewhat divisive among some coin collectors, with some (like me) ready to finish their collection with the late QEII. Better to encourage the continuity of the series and iron out any problems with mintages with this QEII 'memorial', and try to gauge the way ahead for Charles' first year. A memorial coin that has his effigy is perfect in that sense. <Edit> One with a large mintage that is 'for the Queen'.
Thirdly, I do wonder whether this release will be looked back on in time and largely felt that the Queen really should have been on it.
    Basically, I'm bamboozled

(Edited after reading that Gazette proclamation)
I think that proclamation related to these 2022 memorial sovereign releases and probably doesn't relate to the 2023 dated coins at all.  We will see 🙂

I'm sure there will be a Coronation SOTD sovereign - that is the next one I'll be going for.  I guess the 2023 proof sovereign will be the same design as the SOTD but with a much higher mintage, so I'll give it a miss.

To be honest, I think we all assumed this Proclamation was for the 2023 Sovereign until the RM announced the 2022 Memorial Sovereign. 😆

Actually that proclamation does not state the year at all.
Indeed it could be used for 2022, 2023, or any future year when the RM wants to use the Coat of Arms design on a Sovereign with KC III on the obverse.
At some point, the RM will anyway have to either issue a new Proclamation for the G&D design on a KC III Sovereign, or they can issue a new Proclamation to “alter” the existing Proclamation for the G&D design on a QE II Sovereign.

The trouble is they are never keen on giving out final mintages etc.
It's like pulling teeth.its normally only through a FOI freedom of information reqest, quoting data protection/SAR they release stuff that the likes of Aussie Perth mint release freely as a matter of course as time progresses
Quoting max mintages etc always leaves the RM door open to conjure up a new set or the remarket old unsold product
Honestly just finding mintages of their most  common 1oz silver Britannia coin, was like pulling teeth to obtain around five years back here on the forum, and still didn't get a definitive answer, and it is not published on their site

I think it was the post below by @sovereignsteve that may have given an alternate response. I don't think anyone doubt's you, just the clarity from the mint publicly isn't there. Not sure it has been verified tho, but it's contradicting.

No need to be upset. I have been here along with you for many years here  on TSF. This time is the first time this particular time frame has been given for a sov, so it is worth discussion. If you have taken offense, my apologies. I could have phrased it better….

I think you are pretty spot on, and I have posted here before that some Sovs (Ansell’s, Narrow Shield for example) seem to appear more frequently than Marsh suggests might be the case.
    Other rarities lay undiscovered….
Of course, some people might have discovered new varieties, unique errors etc, but until they come to sell it would not be in their best interest to disclose what they have as it would allow others to search for coins with the same errors and a unique variety would sell somewhat better.

Definitely! I love the proof Sovs I have, imo they are incredible, and as you say look worse in photos. I have a Viccy and that is glorious too, but in a different way. I understand a preference, but I don't get all the 'hate' for the alloy at all.

RM were hoping they were a sellout in days but because it is not shifting quickly enough they put a new announcement that sale will end on 31st December. I won't give them the benefit of the doubt, its obviouse what has happened.

If that is so then it should be an open edition like the other memorial coins until sale end in 31st December. The fact the edition size has been announced and then a few days later changes made to the website because of slow sales says it all really.

That is very shady if correct - people screencapped the release on the day earlier in the thread, so that can be checked.
I didn't buy myself, but I think it's been a good release (apart from the RM shenanigans)
Basically some issues have effectively been 'unlimited' (in that they outstripped demand) but it means everyone who wanted something got it.
Some of these will be one-off souvenir collectors, so we can remove them from the 'collector' pool (as they won't look to buy others from recent years). But some will become collectors, and the mintage on certain releases means that demand will only go up for those coins.
Meanwhile the actual 'collector pool' won't be affected much imvho - the other buyers' coins will go into the drawer or safe, largely forgotten about, and be kept for life - they won't come onto the secondary market.
And the flippers have been 'taken out'. Not good short-term (hype etc), no problem medium to long term for me.
I see it as win-win for us all (whether we bought these or not!)

I feel a bit for Liz on this one, she gets a far better design as a memorial than for her Platinum, obviously never gets to see it, and for the final kick in the proverbial crown jewels is she's not even on it!

I really like the 2023 Kookaburra. It appears they took inspiration from the 2013 coin with two baby kooks.  The same flowers and everything but the birds are now adults.
