A gorgeous set of QEII proof portraits from 2013.  Consisting of 4x piedfort silver coins, supplied by @richatthecroft.
A fair amount of spotting here and there.  I am very torn whether to do something about it or not - in this case it's not unsightly to me, and adds a bit of character.  (The patch at the bottom that looks like a fingerprint is actually the reflection of the cloth.)

To get some much needed practice with the silver sand casting, i thought i'd treat myself to my very own set of 999 dominoes.
I'm a fan of the rustic, hammered look, which is a result because it hides a whole multitude of sins!!
This one is 35 grams, so the complete set will be just short of a kilo, so i'll be reserving a space in the safe.

The maximum mintage (6480) relates to the number of those coins being made.
Limited edition presentation (3000) relates to the number of coins in that exact presentation, i.e. a half sovereign on its own in a fancy box.
The mintage figure for the half sovereign also includes the number of coins presented in the 3-coin, 4-coin and 5-coin sets, plus a few extras for the Trial of the Pyx.

With the royal mints lust for money that I can’t see changing they could change the design on the sovereign every year like they do with the Brit.    This will persuade collectors to get every year because ‘it’s a unique design’.     They are watering down the prestige of the sovereign with every release 

arguable.
I remember when in the 80s, then in the 90s and yes, still in first decade of the new millennium no1 was litterally giving a damn to the RM delicacies. And the 500 year of heritage was already there. If you notice the mintage of the 90s sovs...few thousands.. and i can tell you no1 was waiting on the release day or was lining out of the phisical shops to get a piece of history. Things started changing in 2002-2005-2012, but then again those were just the first innocent attempts. Thing REALLY changed in 2015 and they got just worst and worst since then. 
I lost count on all plain edges, SoTDs, princess Bday here, piedfort there, sapphire, wedding, "once in a life time, unique! never ever again" etc etc etc. And i m not even considering all the other gold emissions..
Traditions have to do with repetitiveness? Yes.
I pray for the sovereign to get back to the traditional (boring?) st george and the dragon, and to rely on my annual november proof sov to be bought and kept. I dont mind special reverses, of course, but, as already said, what makes them special is their infrequency

With a dent in the bank balance of almost £700 for the three, these will be the last additions for this year... Hard to be patient sometimes when there are such treasures out there waiting to be bought!

Can't decide whether the Griffin or the Falcon are my favourite designs.  I guess the Griffin, because I have one.  😁
