JTerry3 got a reaction from SidS in Your Best Worst Coin - For Those Who Like 'em Rough
I think this qualifies. On first glance of the obverse, it is a raggedy, low grade standard George III halfpenny but on closer inspection of the reverse...you notice it becomes a pre-federal American halfpenny minted for the Virginia Colony. 😋
I will certainly aim to upgrade this in the future but being a Brit with an American father from Virginia, I was very eager to acquire one of these asap!

Today I received...my first Anglo-Gallic coin! It's a Henry VI Grand Blanc (40% silver content) minted in Paris in 1422-36. This was during the time when Henry VI was also King of France as well as England.
I know it's missing ~20% of it total surface area but most of that missing is the legend so it still retains majority of obverse / reverse emblems & symbols.
The missing fragment also knocked the price down to bargain basement levels which I gladly accepted!

Treated myself to some early Christmas pressies 😋:
1) Queen Victoria 1849 'Godless' Florin
2) Corieltauvi Tribe, Silver Unit - 'Horse & Boar' type, c.45 -10 BC - my first Celtic Briton coin!

I have a 2 oz Henry that might be available. Do you have any 1 oz coins in this series to trade?

Hello everyone,
Yesterday I visited the Korean DMZ (demilitarized zone) between North and South Korea. Apart from having a glimpse of North Korea I was also able to buy some North Korean currency as a souvenir.
You can see below the 100 and 50 won coins presently used in circulation.
I was told that the first two notes (5,000 and 50 won) are old style notes no longer in circulation while the other two (500 won) are still used. The 5,000 won note has the portrait of Kim Ii-sung who was the founder of North Korea 🇰🇵 and grandfather of the present leader Kim Jong-Un.
There are a couple of photos below that I took from the DMZ observation point that show a few distant shots of the North. The North Koreans seem quite friendly particularly one guy who kept waving to me - see last photo.

Agreed.
The only one of this series I have in my collection is the Bowie one. Not just cause I'm a big Bowie fan but I like what the designers did with the selective colouring, fits the artist as it's a clear callback to the Aladdin Sane era of his catalogue. This Rolling Stone one though is just so lazy.
