    Greetings to all!
I am a new small time stacker who got delivery of my first piece of silver bullion yesterday.
Interested mostly in silver bullion for diversity of other investments.
I look forward to reading your posts and learning more.

I'm quite new to all this so not sure if there will ever be decent profit in stacking gold and silver. I think your money is safe with it but who knows what will happen. I think we are all living in hope really.
Maybe rarer and nusmatic coins my rise in value more over the next 10/20 years than bullion coins. Shame a crystal ball can't tell us what the future holds

Well that is the million £ question isn't it. My hope is that it does especially the silver, gold i am not really worried about but i do hope silver becomes more valuable in the future. I also feel not many people stack, i could be wrong of course but no one i know does it and even the people with the disposable cash it seems off their radar. So i hope the foresight to stack precious metals pays off!
I should say that precious metals isn't the only basket i put my eggs in and is part of a diversified portfolio but it is a pleasure having an investment i can hold in my hand and admire.
I think i will hold on a bit longer than 10/20 years before i sell though and make sure leave something for loved ones.
What about you? Think there is a decent profit in it?

Pass.. not tempted.  Don't want the risk of them turning out covered in milkspots after a few months.  I heard the robin hoods have issues and about 60% of my 2020 brits are spotted now with no explanation.  I didn't have issues with 2021s yet but I'm now avoiding RM silver products until the issues seem to have calmed down.  I'm a pessamist.

I am a newbie stacker too and have pondered the same question about whether I would be better off with an ordinary Britannia as well.
It seems to me that nobody has a lot of love for the Robin Hood gold coin, I think there were barely any videos on youtube about it.  That could perhaps make it rare, since they won't mint many if there is small demand, so perhaps it could hold more value.  I really don't know.
My own personal feelings are that I don't like them that much, so wouldn't be prepared to pay much extra premium over an ordinary Britiannia for one, when next adding to my small stack.

Does the platinum have an equal place in your stacking strategy as the other metals? Not necessarily in volume but in it's purpose? It operates in a different market to silver and gold (it has similarities to silver in that it responds directly to industrial demand, although generally for different industries) and has some high premiums attached to fractional pieces (at least it does in the UK, and that's before the VAT we have to put up with is added which is admittedly something you don't need to worry about).
I'm not poo-pooing the idea of holding it by any means, but would be wary of buying it in place of gold as a financial hedge but then I suppose you could say the same about silver to some degree. All that said I have read a few things from folk who seem to know their onions that say there should be a huge upward movement for platinum in the not so distant future, so what do I know 🤣
A blow hard answer to a simple question...
From the two options, for the sake of forum fun, I vote silver. It's your spondulux though bud, so enjoy swapping it for shiny stuff whatever the choice.

I only started earlier this year but for a numbers of years have always wanted to buy some gold for the kids.

Funnily enough I started with silver brits, their birth years then got a few more then realised I could also afford to buy sovereigns.  It's more a hobby for me, as and when I have some spare money I'll buy a coin.

There are plenty of them to go around..you won't miss out..can't really go wrong with the silver bullion if you have the money get the Gold but imo you would be better off buying a 1oz britannia.

I had this exact same issue last night but i am in the UK. It was either £143 on 5 silver 1oz coins or £132 on a 1/10 platinum coin. I went with the silver in this instance but was thinking maybe i should have went for the platinum as i do not have any yet. I think i will do a strategy where i buy silver one month, gold the next and platinum the other and then repeat.
Like i said i went for the silver but kinda regret it now and think i will treat myself to the Platinum 1/10 on payday.
    Hope that helps.

I am stacking gold, silver and platinum as an investment and to add more variety and diversify my portfolio, as i do not like to put all my eggs in one basket. I never really considered buying precious metals before and never even knew the process was so simple. Now my aim is to have 10% of my wealth in precious metals and i won't be letting go of it until i am either very old or very desperate. Although i initially started as a stacker/investor, i am now appreciating the beauty of some coins etc and how diverse the designs are and i just want to buy certain pieces just to have, so think i am also edging towards collector.
There is something very enticing about owning precious metals in bullion form, makes me feel like i actually have treasure you know, something solid and real not just fiat currency but the stuff of kings and queens you know. None of my friends/ family are into it and i feel like i sort of, have one over all of them by investing some money in precious metals, they all think i am crazy but i feel getting into this was one of the best decisions i have ever made.

Great topic, interesting to hear different ideas. For me it's to diversify a portion of my long term savings. I do enjoy reading some of the history of the old world silver and gold coins. My original plan was to buy modern bullion coins but this year got on to old coinage due to the price difference. I don't consider it an investment as such more as an insurance or a plan B and like I mentioned a diversified way of saving some 'money'

I currently have my coins in capsules and just like you i want to keep them in the best possible shape, so don't even want to take my silver bullion out of the capsule if i can help it. I actually just purchased some tubes today here on the Silver forum from @morezone who has tubes large enough to hold coins inside of the capsule so you get the best of both worlds.
