I was after one of those a while back and so I did an ebay search then saved it and set up notifications of any new listings. After a short while one came up, I paid less than £200 for it. 1908 and in exceptional condition. I have one piece of advice with regards to getting the coins you want it's, be patient! It always works for me, sooner or later an opportunity will arise.

I don't think I would trust buying one off eBay with all the fakes about

Way over priced for me.  Might as well order direct from Apmex in the US - £370 + shipping & customs fees reckon you could save £100

On apmex they go up to 549 dollars which is £400 plus the postage you would be saving about £100

  3. Thanks for the replies, I completely agree with everyone's comments. RM are way over priced I really don't get how they come up with the pricing especially with there historical coins. They could make a killing if they lowered the prices. It's only I've got an account with them and can pay things off that I even consider buying from them.

I love all the pre 33 gold coins and eventually want to collect them all just see they had the 2.5 dollar in stock but couldn't justify the price and you guys just confirmed that for me as well.

Well that is the million £ question isn't it. My hope is that it does especially the silver, gold i am not really worried about but i do hope silver becomes more valuable in the future. I also feel not many people stack, i could be wrong of course but no one i know does it and even the people with the disposable cash it seems off their radar. So i hope the foresight to stack precious metals pays off!

I should say that precious metals isn't the only basket i put my eggs in and is part of a diversified portfolio but it is a pleasure having an investment i can hold in my hand and admire.

I think i will hold on a bit longer than 10/20 years before i sell though and make sure leave something for loved ones.

What about you? Think there is a decent profit in it?

I'm quite new to all this so not sure if there will ever be decent profit in stacking gold and silver. I think your money is safe with it but who knows what will happen. I think we are all living in hope really.

Maybe rarer and nusmatic coins my rise in value more over the next 10/20 years than bullion coins. Shame a crystal ball can't tell us what the future holds

  5. Hi all I'm very new to all this, would any of you guys buy this coin at thus price from the royal mint. I know they are a bit over priced than other places but you've not got to worry about fakes with them and I have an account so wouldn't have to pay it all in one go. So way to expensive or a decent investment

Are you sure your coin is genuine?  The lettering of "LIBERTY" looks to be too far from the edge, Liberty's face looks to be hideous (!), and on the reverse, the eagle does not seem to have much fine detail (e.g. the feathers).  I think the coin below is genuine, so you are able to see what I mean.

Actually you could he right I'm not 💯 sure about this coin will need to get it checked out. I've got a 1986 one of these which is definitely genuine and it does have a better feel to it

I've always found it odd that the single Market 50p which has half the mintage of the Kew isn't that sort after.

I'd assume the design plays a big role as well.

I was going to say that Kew gardens isn't the lowest mintage of the 50ps.

I have the chance to buy a sliver proof 2009 Kew gardens and was thinking of getting it graded and sitting on it for a few years.

Price might go up even more
