Feel free to ask any questions.  I have the complete date run of Kooks (but not all of the Privy editions - yet) plus some of the other sizes.
The high relief Kooks are particularly nice!

I haven't really started on the privys yet but I have half a dozen 1997 privys is there's one or two in particular you need from that year

    I'm a big fan of Kooks as well.  Got a few 1oz silver & 1/10th gold. 🙂
Not sure on the size as Perth Mint supply them in fitted capsules.  I have noticed other 1oz silver coins vary considerably.

So others will definitely be knowledgable than myself on the topic, but for what it’s worth, there are quite a lot of Privy’s (great for collecting over the long term).  I have a strong suspicion that out there may be some Kooks that were minted for the purposes of the mint - in v small numbers.
Why do I think this?  I have visited the Perth Mint quite a few times. Around the PM are dotted coin dealers.  I visited all that I could in the hunt for some specific Sovs.  I also asked about rare Kooks.  One of the dealers said that he had seen a Kook that was not listed in any of the reference materials - a guy bought it in for valuation with other coins.  He couldn’t remember exactly what it was minted for but thought something like a prototype that was given to staff or a staff issued kook.   Definitely worth keeping an eye out for.

On the high relief Kooks, these are hard to find in the U.K. but very much worth obtaining if you can - beautiful coin.  More seem to exist in the U.K. and Australia than in Europe.

Thanks for the tag @stefffana, Kookaburras are the only date run Silver coin I’m persevering with, even the tax doesn’t put me off.
A few years back I discovered the gold 1/10’s version and there now seems to be U.K dealers interested, which makes it less challenging with the VAT reclaim issues from elsewhere, so this might interest you too @8ace. Both are for my kids, they seem to like them.

    Hi all,
After collecting a few Gold and Silver bullion coins to hedge against inflation (so I told myself), I bagged a couple of late year kookaburras. Wow... I think this could be the start of a beautiful friendship and something more than just precious metals.

Buying some new bullion coronation sovereigns this year is unlikely to prove a bad decision in a few years' time.  It *should* be a one-off obverse design and is likely to carry a small premium over a normal sovereign coin in the medium term, assuming that we revert to a period of standard G&D reverses and uncrowned obverses for a while.
So my advice for buying bullion this year would be to by these sovereigns.  If you can stretch to the 1oz crowned Britannia and the 1oz Coronation coin, I don't think you can go wrong here either.
Today I ordered a coronation sovereign and the 1oz coronation coin with the CRIII cypher.  I intend to add the double sovereign but that's just because I like it, rather than it being a good stacking decision.  I'm a collector first and foremost.
Am undecided on the coronation Britannia personally, but if money were no object I'd probably add it to my collection as well.

My prize turned up although it's not the year advertised on the draw. I'm not fussed, they even threw in a box of caramel truffles with it. The silver coins are from @theman73, great bloke to deal with.
Another winner in the same draw also won the 1kg silver Britannia. I'll try my luck on the latest kilo coin draw as I'm feeling lucky 😊

They have been doing this with the Royal Arms coins for a couple years now.
I recently commented in another topic how the mintage of the bullion Royal Arms 2023 is smaller than that of the Coronation proof Sovereign. 🫤

Oh...will then have 3 different obverse Gold Britannia in 2023, don't know if there will be silver Britannia or not. My box currently already accommodated 2 Britannia, and have to find an extra space for the 3rd, if any😅

There are some BU packs out there that definitely weren't a waste of money.
This one came out last year, and a lot of people shunned it for being quite expensive and having 3 grubby circulated coins in it. But the smart kids realised the BU coin in the set had a unique privy mark and that only 2,022 of them would ever be made.

Found myself buying a few here and there when the bank balance is low and silver and gold is out of reach. Is there any money in them in the future or am i paying over £10 for 50 pence pieces? 😄
    Anyone else buy these?
