I suppose it depends upon when they were made and where they were made. Many were probably made in the 1950s in the Middle East.

I love what you've done to the proof coins, the £1 coin and the Kruggerands! They look fab.

I was thinking something like electrum where there's various silver and gold mixes and depending upon the content of each metal depends upon the colour.
I think copper is highly likely, gold could be present in low quantities, afterall 9ct gold always looks a little coppery to me, but then again so do certain 22ct gold coins which has been a bug bear of our own @LawrenceChard for example. 😁

The genuine 1780 thalers are quite expensive iirc.

Oh! you just mention a topic that I love and I want to keep learning; the "value" of historical coins back then. I recently started my historical coin collection, I'm collecting coins from each king/queen in the united kingdom, I have George V, George VI, Victoria, (I believe I won't make it for Edward VIII) and I don't know how far I will be able to get.
I've been researching about the value of the different coins, how much a worker would get a month in 1890, how much was the price of food, what could you buy with a crown... for example. it is what you said, not just silver, it feeds the imagination as to who earn them and what was bought with it.
I would love to know if there are books about it or where I can get reliable information.

I love the Charles II coins the most.
    There's a good mixture of denominations, £12 11s face.
Charles, James and WM are a few examples of crowns, halfcrowns and shillings. I can't find any cheap, circulated sixpences.
William III, Anne and George II are crowns, halfcrowns, shillings and sixpences.
George I and III are just shillings and sixpences (the larger coins are way out of my price range for George I).
I've been buying them on and off for the past ten years. Most are G-VF grades. I quite like picking up bent coins which have been straightened. They can have great detail but are much cheaper.
Some are ex-mount, the odd one might have some subtle engraving or the odd counterstamp. One or two have been gilded and made to look like guineas.
The majority though are just honest, problem free coins which have been used.
The prices for these coins have exploded in recent years though. I doubt I could pick any of these up now for what I paid just five years ago.
I told you I sold off all my gold, well this was the stuff I was buying with the proceeds.
Playing the numismatic market a little.
I prefer these to sovereigns anyhow. I used to collect Early Milled sixpences by date, sold them years ago and missed them. Decided I wanted a more broad set, but I couldn't afford EFs.

I can wait for people to start collecting sovereigns by die number and serration combinations. 1865, die number 32 with 108 serrations, did you know the same coin type with 111 serrations is extremely rare?
    😁
