this it was H and B who had them on sale for £180 too a week or so for them to sell out.      i remember at the time not going for it because of the royal mints milk spotting issues.         Read the first few pages of the una and lion thread and this is a quote
Just buy 14 Sovereigns and hold them for ten years and then sell them. Probably get a similar profit.

Anyone else that missed the first dispatch of the GC worried that their coins will be cancelled.   Multiple members here have been sent 2 to the same address by mistake have they cocked up AGAIN?

My take on the ‘unexpected delay’ which maybe right maybe not.    The royal mint sent sets for grading and they have been delayed coming back. Else why so many on the population so quickly. The ones what will be sent out won’t have made  PF70 but will be better than PF68.    They have said in the past that coins will be better than 68 else they will be replaced so now they know they are.      Why would the royal mint state the American grading system rather than the British if this wasn’t the case?

Cornishfarmer got a reaction from Paul in Why does RM have this model?
What I don’t get is, the royal mint are selling a coin for a fraction of the resale value, I know it’s hype but if they doubled the mintage they would double the turnover.    They are costing the company money by limiting mintage’s     This would take the flippers out and the genuine collectors would carry on collecting.   I admire @Frenchie and @Paul for holding on to the Una when most would sell and now it’s paying off for them as the royal mint have done a good job and making sure they can get the whole collection.    Just wish they did the same with the 2oz and 5oz silver.

I’ve had some more hopeful news following my email to Anne Jessopp about the loose capsules following advice from @BackyardBullion and @Oldun. Some of you might remember that I was one of the unlucky few or majority possibly that received their sovereign loose in the box. Oddly the capsule was practically closed.
I have to say, up to now, I’ve been impressed with the Royal Mint customer service so no problems with that.
They have now offered and promised to replace my sovereign. I am happy about this and having spoken with them on the phone today, they called me which I was surprised about, they have assured me I’ll get a replacement.
I’ve learned that they are taking measures to send replacements and original orders of those who haven’t got theirs with foam inserts. Not ideal I suppose but and this is the but, they’ve acknowledged the fault with the capsules and they are rectifying it. Admitting there’s a problem can’t have been easy for them. So they’re rectifying it with foam inserts which might be a little bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, perhaps, but they’re doing something about it. Which is good.
So and I’m presuming here, those who are still waiting for their original orders or replacements, you’re waiting because they’re waiting for the foam to modify the packaging. That’s what I was told by RM.
Lastly I asked the question many of us have been wondering, will I get someone else’s return? No we won’t, after they inspect our returns and agree that there are defects, on an individual basis I think, they are reminted. We might possibly get the same certificate number but not the same coin or anyone else’s return.
I’d say my experience of RM customer service has been a positive one, I’m still nervous to return mine but I have faith that I’ll get a newly minted replacement.
I was told it might be mid January before a replacement arrives but it’s a month ish away and I’d rather wait to have a sovereign as it should have been originally.
I thought this might help others who are waiting for replacements.

That is a beauty. Obverse is designed by Edgar Bertram Mackennal and the Reverse is Leonard Charles Wyon.
I think it’s Thomas Simon next though (see discussion above).

Difference between dealers and flippers is that dealers pay their taxes on their profits from coin sales!!!

I think @TheShinyStuff has covered the answer to this question:

I think Leon, you are well aware of the price premiums achieved of the previous 5 Special Reverse Modern Sovereigns- a reminder of them- 1989, 2002, 2005, 2012 & 2017- I've lost touch with exact current prices achieved but from memory of the last sales I have seen here, auctions & retail dealer sales, they go as follows- (lowest price Raw examples, highest graded 70):
    1989:  £1100- £2k
    2002: £600- £750
    2005: £600- £750
2012: £950-  £1200. (remarkably (and likely an outlier) one achieved £2300 yesterday at the CC Auction it was PCGS PR 70 DCAM First Strike)
    2017: £895- £1150

Is there any evidence to say that the 2022 Sovereign won't be as good a long term hold?  Or that people don't have confidence in holding them?  It was the fastest sell out of any year date proof Special Reverse Sovereign and the mintage is on a par (or less) than any of the previous Special Reverses- and 98 Pages of chat in this very thread tells quite a story.

Here's some more evidence that the 2022 will perhaps, do ok long term:

I did this exercise on the 20/11/2021 and repeated it just now.
Using the search term '2022 Sovereign' on eBay on Monday 29/11/2021:

The amount of 2022 Sovereigns for sale (all denominations and sets) is currently surprisingly few, given the amount of coins/ sets issued- there's currently only 41 sales posts using the search term described above.

In terms of sales- using the same search terms, here's the action so far- surprisingly few sales at 55.  Figures not quite accurate as some sales include 'best offer accepted':

5 Coin set- 5 Sales ranging between £5795 through £6995- Average sale price- £6348
4 Coin Set- 2 Sales ranging between £3250 through £3750- Average sale price- £3500
3 Coin set- 7 Sales ranging between £1195 through £1650- Average sale price- £1391
