Faiz reacted to LemmyMcGregor in How will silver help against CBDC’s
We've been fighting this for years, with no results, nice to see that is finally getting national attention.
It's the same that is happening in Bath and, I believe, Cambridge. The city is split in quadrants, you can't travel between them by car, if you want to use the car you must exit your area to the ring road and travel to the access point for the area you are going to.
I used to work by the ring road, nearing 5pm it would be gridlocked. For a while I had to go weekly to Swindon, it could take me up to an hour to travel the 5 miles to the ring road junction that leads to the A420, and they want all traffic to shift here.
The council is opposing the accusations by claiming that obviously they haven't locked anything as you are free to move between areas cycling or with public transport, firmly ignoring that this is a de facto ban on cars. They are ideologically opposed to private vehicles, their whole idea is that they want to mess the road so much to the point that they are gridlocked and motorists stop using their cars in frustration. No conspiracy theorists needed here, I have one of their activists on record stating as much.
The activist by the way happen to be the owner of a bike delivery company that received his vehicles free of charge through a public grant sponsored by the local council and receives mostly work from the council and the hospital, they also had an exception put in place in a main central road for delivery bybicles to be allowed to go against the one way system. It is completely by chance that one of the shareholders happens to sit in the council panel for climate change and is an NHS manager.

Most people don't believe that they can make a difference, so they never vote and allow the usual suspects to keep elected, then you have the ones that keep voting the party regardless, so they see the symbol and put a cross regardless of motivation, and let's not forget that when they go door to door they tell you to vote for them because the others are racists and they're the good guys, they don't tell you what they really plan on doing.
Last Summer we were at the pub and I've been called a conspiracy theorist because I was complaining about the above proposal, and the morons are very left and very loud about it, which means that they probably voted the same outfit blessedly ignoring what's going. It didn't matter that I stated that it was a widely known proposal, it didn't matter that I offered to show them the information on the Council website, I was a conspiracy theorist for daring to say that from this Winter we would have not been able to cross town because of the bus gates.
Useful idiots.

Faiz got a reaction from dicker in Milking on silver
I’ve tried all sorts to prevent it, with little success. Temperature control, moisture control, the lot. It used to be the maples, the Britannias are just as bad, if not worse than the maples at milking now. My queen beasts collection is also affected to some degree. I can’t stand the site of the stains. I personally would not use a mechanical method to remove the stains, the scratches left behind are even more unsightly, bullion or no bullion. Hard earned cash has gone into buying them, so there should be no excuse for such poor quality. I’ve moved over to gold.

Access to an xrf is always good. I was looking to invest in one recently, but decided not to pull the trigger in the end.

Further, the dissatisfaction of their clients is based on the clients apparently losing trust, being fobbed off etc. The rhetoric ie. the stated delivery times on their site (10 days) for unallocated to become allocated is not being met by the said time frame, and that is what's got people uneasy who are locked into those contracts, it does not look good for the mint. Further compounding this is the world situation and the moves we've seen in Silver recently.

I suppose it depends what industry you are looking in. I think you need to compare it to similar products. Good example are TVs, if you compare them to cameras, mobile phones, games consoles, and anything the Chinese are now making the price has vastly dropped.
If you take for instance a first class stamp, you can't really compare it to anything else. 12p in 1980 and 85p today a rise of 608%.
I looked at metals dating back to the 1960s.
Copper 1379% rise, zinc 2650% rise, tin 1513% rise, gold 528% rise, platinum 450% rise and silver 119% rise.
If you take the price of inflation at about 608% then you can kind of see people's opinions on silver.
My personal opinion is that silver is on a very strange line between being deemed as a industrial metal and a form of holding value. It doesn't know where it is. Only Time will tell and fingers crossed it leaves gold and platinum and head up with the others.

Updated stack picture. 2020 was silent, got just 10 France francs in gold and random silver coins. US 3 cents was most exciting 😄 thinking to get few more, from different years. Got intrested in coins for stacking but feeling at the moment that numismatics/history takes over.

Faiz reacted to Bigmarc in Is tin overlooked?
Hi
I've recently become interested in melting and bar making. There is a lot of reference on copper but not so much on tin. Tin is currently 3 times the price of copper and has a lower melting point, so would be generally simple for a novice to achieve.
Is tin harder to find?
Has anyone looked in to this?
