cornishrich reacted to Kman in Gold Monitoring Thread $ (USD) only
The federal reserve released some minutes, probably something I should know to keep track of if I wasn't such a novice 🥺 will make sure I note it down in future
Spiked the dollar, sent gold/silver and spx down - maybe just temporarily
https://www.federalreserve.gov/monetarypolicy/files/fomcminutes20200729.pdf
I haven't got time to read through it properly atm, I'm sure some news outlets will pick out the important parts but I couldn't find many good articles as of yet

Dollar looks like it's going to come up and test some resistances in the next week
If it fails at 94 then we shouldn't see too much of a fall off for pms
If it gets past 94 and up to the ones at 95 and 96 which would probably play out over weeks instead then yes everyone saying $1700 will probably be right
My guess is 94 holding as resistance, dollar starting a new leg down, PMs starting a new leg up

cornishrich reacted to dicker in The Beauty of gold through the ages
Hi All
At the risk of boring you, I am going to post on this thread articles and photos that reflect on the beauty and value of gold through the ages.
I am particularly interested in treasure wreck gold finds because the artefacts recovered are so frequently discovered in mint state despite being in the sea for hundreds of years.
To start, I thought it would work to post a link to the 1715 fleet society which documents the remarkable find of the below bird on the Florida “treasure coast”. This find is all the more remarkable because eventually both wings were found.

Its been a while since I put any coins on here, that's because I have not found any good enough for sale that I wanted lately, then several came all at once, the first of them arrived today.
This is a British India 1 Rupee coin, dated 1942 and made of .500 silver.
This coin was the largest of the silver British Indian coins that was issued, its size and weight was just under that of a British 1/2 Crown of the same era.
The first 1 Rupee to feature George VI head appeared in 1938 and was only made for two years, 1938 & 1939, these coins were made from .917 silver and had a reeded edge, not many were minted, in 1940 the silver content went down to .500, and this type was made in huge numbers, then in 1942 a new feature was incorporated to prevent counterfeits, a security edge was added to the coins, this version was made until 1945 when silver was stopped being used in the coins.
1942 was the lowest mintage year by far and only one mint made them that year and there was no known variations which was unusual for these coins.
Production figures of the third type GRVI 1 Rupee are as follows
1942, 7,352,000 Bombay Mint
1943, 65,995,000 Bombay Mint
1944, 146,206,000 Bombay Mint
1944, 91,400,000 Lahore Mint
1945, 142,666,000 Bombay Mint
1945, 118,126,000 Lahore Mint
I wonder why modern bullion coins don't do something like this to make them harder to copy

Awesome bars from @Troy77 arrived today.
The antiqued finish on that left hand one is just unreal - it's like a ruthenium finish or something.
Thanks a lot! Also to @Madstacks for letting me have the comet bar. I love it. The gold highlights really make it. These are works of art!
And I'm guessing the elephant was a test run?! Love the colours!
