I just noticed that people are starting to receive their George Micheal coins already and not a single Great Engravers is yet to be dispatched or received.

The mint is certainly messing with its customers.

Probably be despatched next week now

To da'mooooooooooooon 🚀🚀🚀

Doubt it'll get bid up to far with that low feedback score however :(

People with the money to think about buying this will probably wait until some appear on a ‘proper’ auction site and know that the amount they are spending is pretty safe🤔😮

Ok £5 per week and you can have it delivered in 2400 weeks once paid in full.

46 years to pay off :(

What is the general consensus here on the group for this new GE coins?

Is it okay to buy 5oz/10oz silver proof if I get a chance at reasonable price?

It would be ok at a 'Reasonable' price, but the majority will fall in value from their retail price, so buying at RRP is more likely to lose you money than otherwise.  I suggest keeping an eye open on the secondary market and getting a sense of where they settle out to.  More often than not (quite a lot more often), you'll lose money on high-value proofs if you buy them straight off the RM's web site at retail.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

Thank you but I am very specifically talking about 2024 Great Engravers. It has been 3 weeks now so I thought it would give enough time to sense how it went hence I will get some answers if I can buy now or wait?

It will take longer than that for the secondary market to settle, I think, maybe 6-12 months.

No one really knows, if you can find one from a dealer at RRP then you will still have to wait for it to be delivered. Thing is, everyone who has bought one no matter the weight or be it gold or silver and has bought it from the mint or a dealer is yet to take ownership of it as non have been dispatched by the mint as they are taking their sweet time sending the coins to those who bought one. In the mean time a bunch of other coins have been released and people are taking delivery of these wierd looking cartoon coins. So the reality is we are in another dimension and nothing is real and you are just dreaming about the 2024 GE coin as it doesn't exist.

Fair point however the dimensions will collide in the next 2-3 weeks or rather we will all be back living in the same boring dimensions we always have been. Coming back to my question, I completely understand when you/others say we have to give 6-12 months to see how it does which is a fair point but I was asking about the feeling related to this release. Offcourse I am not going to come back in 12 months to hold you/other responsible because eventually if I pay £1K for 5oz silver and it crashes, I am the only one to blame.

With everything we have known so far, design, mintage...do we think it could be a winner and by winner I did not mean matches Una.

Can you elaborate on "how I feel"? I'm not sure if I'm meant to give an emotional response or how I feel the market will be in this time.

It's just speculation at the moment. 2019 una did well, will this coin do well in secondary market? Maybe but its going to take time. 2013 was the last time we got a silver proof pistrucci and there was a mintage of 10,000 and a pf70 can fetch decent money over RRP or a second hand raw or pf69. So it will do better than the 2013 coin for sure will it do better than una? I think it will do slightly better than 3 graces due to the mintage but only graded pf70 will see the highest premiums for silver, gold I don't know, but only time will tell.

Don't expect most coins to do well considering due to mint QC is always lacking.
