Hi TSF

I have been given the chance to buy two coins for 1,000 each which one would you go for ? Still finding my way a little so any help appreciated from anyone on the forum with more knowledge

The third coin the 1838 is 2.5k good buy ? Or not

Are any of them a decent buy ? @SilverMike @shawy2510 @richatthecroft @LawrenceChard

I am probably not going to much help here.

I like the 1838 sov best, despite the lower grade AU55, but of course it is more money!

Out of the group the 1838 is the one I would buy.

I can’t see a pic of the reverse but at 2.5k I would buy (but it’s at the upper end of what is reasonable in my view for a private sale).

It’s hard to get a decent example in AU let alone MS

Are you going to by them to keep or do a Sunday pants down special very soon?

Your current collection seems to be fractional coins rather than full denominations of either guinea or sovereign and you already have an 1820 half sovereign, so perhaps the coin that most logically fits into your collection would be the William IV example.

Funnily enough though - of the 3 coins and judging purely on the obverse and only on the aesthetics, I would choose either of the other two in preference.  But then I don't have any similar gold coins already.  I'd choose the 1818 half sovereign but I haven't looked at their book values and recent sale values, which would be the first thing I would do if I was making this decision personally.

Good luck!
