Royal Mint - Great Engravers 2021 - Gothic Crown information

Recommended Posts

For information, for @Paul and all the lucky owners :),  a 2oz gold and a 2oz silver Una were auctionned  today at Sovereign Rarities. Both graded PF69 and sold respectively for £26000 and £1700 (+ 20% fees + VAT). The Una's market still holds up well and this is the great winner in the series and even in all the modern coins contestants !

If the  prices are nice,  It's worth mentionning the differences between a PF69 and PF70 with an amazing 67% premium added for the last gold Una PF70 auctionned in January  (66000$,  around £55000 fees included)

On the other side,  I don't understand why the 3G and GC do not really take off seing the sold price of the last auction for an original 3G above,

I have a feeling that it will be another two coin issue In either February or March.

Not sure of the design but like some others not so keen on the Petition Crown.

27th Feb I hear

I've been watching this auction and I must say I was very surprised. Although this is a special version with .999 silver. Also if you look at the slabbed pictures you'll notice that it has medal alignment, rather than the pre-1887 coin alignment. Very special piece indeed.

Looks like we still have love for 2oz gold Una & Lion seems to be holding its own sold at $72,000  (including buyers premium) at Heritage USA earlier in the week

2oz gold "Una & the Lion" Great Engravers series up for auction in Coin Cabinets latest premium auction

This is in PF69

Already at £9750 on Day 1

I wonder what market sentiment is for it to achieve when it ends June 26????

It will be interesting to know how this auction will end up. I am curious  if the Una still stands as exceptional  in the series,  especially in a context where the hype has faded for modern numismatics.
If so, It could be the main iconic coin to keep for the future.

I am not sure about the other design in the series. They are exceptionnal but did not seem to take off..

I still have all 4 coins from WW, but did not go further with Pistrucci , except the 2oz and 5oz silver...Not sure to get even one coin from the next coming design....too much marketing and tired about this

Thank you for the information Paul :)

Thanks Lionel - good points you raise as always, yes it will be an interesting watch

Also as it is PF69, not the "perfect & elusive" PF70 - A PF69 will represent the "realistic current value" of an ungraded/FDC boxed as issued Una & Lion to i would guess.

As ive not sent mine for grading as yet, still sat in safe deposit box

There is certainly not a massive influx of them coming to market since launch, which has got to be a good sign now we are a few years since launch
