Most likely.

You’ll have seen many more fakes than I have but this is the first I’ve seen where the year isn’t even right.

Dating it 31 years before George V came to the throne is laughable.

I just hope they didn’t pay a lot for it.

That's the extremely rare 1879-ish sovereign.

I have only just seen this post.

I have seen quite a few anachronistic gold sovereign fakes before. It is always amusing.

Years ago, I also saw someone listing an 1879 Victoria Young Head £2 Double Sovereign, and from memory, describing it as a rare pattern. Since then, I have seen a few more of them, and also 1979 fake sovereigns with an extremely similar young head portrait.
