The way I see it is we are witnessing history - this is the first ever Platinum Jubilee of any reigning British monarch. It is history happening in my lifetime.
Personally, I would rather get the 2022 Proof Sovereign than a Queen Victoria Sovereign of the same price.
But that’s just me. 🙂

I've switched from Bullion to used cars. Not for the actual cars but the leftover diesel and petrol in them.  

I was thinking of contributing to this thread.
I noticed a number of comments which sounded like their authors were confused or unclear, but there were so many, and it would have taken so much time, that I switched off, and thought it better to save my time and effort for something important and constructive.
However I then realised that much of the confusion is caused by the very first post in the topic thread. So I started to analyse the first post, one statement, sentence or line at a time. I didn't get far:
"What is the Value of Silver?"
In terms of what? monetary value in USD, usefulness as an industrial metal, in medicine? The question itself as posed is meaningless, at least without making a few guesses or presumptions.

WTF is Jordan Graveline? Is he @Junior, or somebody else. Which Jordan Graveline?, what are his qualifications? When and where did Jordan Graveline publish this article? Give us a few clues!. Don't treat your audience with such contempt!

Why?
What has the dollar got to do with it?
Are you examining the value of silver in terms of "the dollar"? If so, why did you not state this at the start?
Also, which dollar are you talking about. You are based in Canada, so are you talking about the Canadian Dollar, the US Dollar, the Zimbabwean Dollar, or one of the other few dozen dollars? Your readers shoud not have to guess or presums which dollar you are talking about!
Do you even know which dollar you or Jordan Graveline is talking about? Does he know? Are you sure? JHow? Did you understand his article? Did you analyse it? did you question any of it? I can think of many more questions on this point, but let's move on...

Has it really? Are you sure? What evidence is there for any of the three assertions you or the original author makes.
It hasn't plagued me.

Why parrot and quote a sweeping assertion with no evidence?

Purchasing power is respect of what? Silver? Wages? Corn? 
Why not gold?
At this point I was in danger of losing the will to live.
There is absolutely no point me wasting my time reading such a pile of garbage in a vain attempt to try to understand it, when I suspect its original author, and the OP, do not understand it. If any other TSF member understands it, or thinks they do, you can always let me know, although I might not believe you.
I think I will go and read about Fermat's Last Theorem. It may be a challenging read, but at least it will be stated in clear terms without any sweeping assertions, and without requiring any guesswork or assumption by the reader.
Sorry if any of this sounds harsh or overcritical, especially as you are a newbie, and say you are young (or was that Jordan Graveline?).
My questions are constructive. If you work your way through them, find the answers, understand why I asked, then you will have gained a great deal of wisdom.

On a serious note, i would be sad to find a finger print on anything with a numismatic value. Bullion however i tend to not mind what it looks like as long as it's of correct weight! I did have BYB melt my most damaged and milked brits into a bar once, they had been handled with little care direct from the mint!
 

I've got a Sovereign that has spent over 100 years in the bottom of the ocean . If you placed it alongside 10 other sovereigns that have never touched water most people couldn't pick it out. I think gloves are rather like face masks.  Some people wear them in certain situations that might seem sensible. Others wear them like some obsessive religion at all times. Whatever makes you happy. All my sovereigns are in capsules but i'm quite happy to take them out and have a glove free fondle now and again 😳    

Sure, wearing gloves of some kind is good advice, but not an absolute. Most dealers and some collectors are well practised at picking coins up using fingernails and fingertips, by the edge of the coin. If your hands are clean, and not greasy, there is little risk of "contaminating" a coin. There is a slight trade-off. If handling high value, high grade copper or bronze coins, I might use gloves. Silver is midway between gold and copper when it comes to the risk of fingerprinting causing damage. Cotton gloves also absorb oil ond grease from skin, and can attract dust and grit, latex does not. 
Gloves require some time to put on and take off, and there can be pleasure in handling "raw" coins with bare hands, compared with only ever seeing and handling slabbed coins through plastic while wearing cotton gloves. Human life and experience is more valuable then any rare or valuable coin. 
There is a slight risk of fumbling, causing damage, through insecure grip or clumsy handling, more so with cotton gloves than latex, which do give better grip.
I used to check about 500 sovereigns per hour, and gloves slowed that down significantly. Also touching them is unlikely to cause any damage to gold coins, except for proofs.
When I first tried using cotton gloves, they were not easily available at low prices, as they are now.
Latex gloves make handling better, and last longer.
Extra protection is always worthwhile, but I thought we were talking about coins, and it sounds like you have changed the subject. 😎

True but when you are going to sink the pink, make sure you dont foul and pot the brown instead! Could all end in tears!

Cotton gloves are the last thing i'd be worrying about if i had bear hands!
