All the drivers for gold are pointing to a higher price right now. China is devaluing their currency for cheaper exports, trump wants a weaker dollar to compete, no deal brexit likelyhood is increasing uncertainty in the market and the likes of negative interest rates becoming the norm with these number of bonds reaching an all time high of $15 trillion. Relative to the USD gold still has 26% to go to reach all time highs and it's worth noting gold in USD terms was stuck in a range for 6 years. Whether the US is a main driver of the gold market right now is another question.

I got lucky with bitcoin and got in at the bottom in January, but being into crypto has made me more alert about buying at highs

H&B are selling the 2019 Sovereign at £289....
eBay has yielded some below-spot bargains for me (all due caution needs to be exercised, of course!)....
and a local antique shop hadn't been keeping an eye on the gold price over the last few weeks

Better late than never, only just had a chance to get everything together. Full gold stack, been exactly 6months, im 2 sovs shy of aprox 30oz which is my short term target. Will continue to pick up the remaining beasts and also some sovs but slowing down a lot unless theres a major dip in prices as have other projects starting soon.

Is it better to buy gold from Europe rather than in the UK due to the pound to the euro changes?
EDIT - I mean obviously if the pound is weaker than the euro then essentially its more expensive 'BUT' its also expensive to buy from the UK, so where is better to buy from?

My Matt BU 2019 five sovereign piece arrived yesterday. I am also showing the 2015 BU five sovereign piece in order to show the colour / finish difference.

… the initial results and stark consequences of my front-loading, year-to-date, pre-Brexit bullion purchasing strategy, in anticipation of a possible end to the availability of cheap and/or VAT-free silver in the UK.
Most of this was acquired before the original March 29th exit date from the EU. So, pretty good timing … with the benefit of hindsight.
Anyway … as of now, 76 more days (at least) to add to the pile!
Consequences? … Urgent trip to B&Q required, to buy more robust cutting tools for the ‘great unboxing’ that lies ahead!

Brilliant. I see you have already taken on the others recommendations which i agree with. Also love the simplistic view I don’t think i would change it!

The website is great.
BUT
There’s one MASSIVE problem that no one has mentioned yet.
£300 is too bloody expensive for a sovereign! 😁

AuricGoldfinger reacted to HawkHybrid in Spotting fake yale queens beasts
fakes are usually thicker or bigger as they use
less dense cheaper metals to try to trick you(in
order to turn a profit).
you should check the coin face versus a known
good copy/picture. I'd be tempted to be less
concerned about it being a fake if it's just the rim
being lower. (a non coin/metals seller would not
be my first choice to buy from)

I think they have new (2019s) and beat value (Random years) if a dealer does both

@S2G one slight little bug bear of mine. The date on the "Last Update" bit, can you change it
In the UK, we use the sensible and logical day, month, year of writing the date, not the stupid yank version of month, day, year. I know across the pond they like to pretend they invented things they didn't, but I could never get my head around why the hell they came up with writing the date like that. That's like writing the time as 45:11, instead of 11:45
