German 20 Mark Gold Coins (Wilhelm II - Kingdom of Prussia)   A trio of sov-sized 90% gold coins received courtesy of @Mox  ;  superb, friendly service and immediate dispatch.   I don't have much to say about these old coins beyond the above title - mainly because I currently know bugger all else. I saw them in the forum's sales thread, liked the look of them, liked the price and bought them.   -Ends

Humble Swiss billon coin, but such an iconic design. An 1872 5 rappen. These are often very worn / circulated but this one has some real character.

Got this as one of my Christmas presents, a British 1937 dated coronation 1 crown, minted from .500 silver.
This coin was last crown to be made of silver in the UK, and was brought out to commemorate the coronation of king George VI in 1937, it was made for one year only, with only 418,600 made.
A very large coin, you would certainly know about it with a few of these in your pockets back then.
Surprisingly this coin is still legal tender in the UK, having been revalued at 25p, though they are worth quite a bit more than this now, pics dont do it justice and the coin has most of its original mint lustre remaining.

Today I finally received my 1 oz New Zealand Post 2020 Olympic Team silver proof bar that I ordered at the end of November. The bar is a stunner, shame about my photography though  Also in the post was this 2018 plain fields slabbed Britannia, my second ever slabbed coin.

RAM 2015 Silver Proof Giant Sloth Roo   First published c1795 in George Barrington’s  "A Voyage to Botany Bay",  Vincent Woodthorpe’s hand-coloured engraving accompanied the description of kangaroos as ‘about the size of a common deer' was presented to a readership in no position to argue. The image proffers a masterclass in deception, unless one is to believe that common deer were at that time the size of trees and that kangaroo twins are not actually almost completely unheard of.    Reminding me of a schoolbook portrayal of the Giant Sloth, I must confess to  being totally besotted with this quite absurd numismatic offering, one which certainly deserves its place alongside the 2013 Tyrannosaurus Roo in the Skippy Hall of Fame.   In terms of mintages, only 3.098 of the maximum were produced, the only one of the "First Sightings" triumvirate not to sell out. Not an easy fellow to source, this gem arrived from Italy and was my penultimate VAT-free EU purchase.   A magnificent coin.   -Ends

Closing out the year with some lovely silver...
The fourth in series, a couple 2020 South Africa 1 oz Silver Big Five Leopard BUs.

And lastly, 1 oz silver from the Alaska Mint, 2020 Official White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad proof Medallion. These medallions are numbered and edged stamped, of which this is 028 of less than 100 minted. This one holds special interest to me as can be seen from personal experience...

After no less than 12 days (first class) sitting at the bottom of a massive pile of post the final part of my great Xmas prize arrived from @dicker. Never ever seen one before and after a quick bit of investigation its a Silver Jubilee silver proof issue weighing 28g. Great little add on to my main prize and @dickeris a top man to deal with.
    Happy New Year to everyone.

Thanks to @TomR92 for having them up for sale here - 5 silver 1 onza 2020 Libertads.  As always, some of the best Bullion releases of every year, with this year being all the more precious, given that the Mexican Mint staff suffered so much to produce these for us to enjoy.

RAM 2020 Silver Proof Red Kangaroo   The Royal Australian Mint produced its first "Mob of Roos" $1 coin in 1984 to replace earlier banknotes, and its inaugural silver counterpart appeared in 2004. I always found the design attractive but, like the Maple, Eagle, Ark, Philly, Brit (latterly), Krug and - dare I say it - even the Tad, a collection of same old, same old, year in, year out...well, such collections become inherently boring ere long.   The 2020 Red Kangaroo certainly bears more than a passing resemblance to "The Mob" - as can be seen below - and I find it a splendid new member to the Skippy set. Following the debacle that was the "Seasons Change" tetralogy, this collage of roos has gone some way to restoring my faith in the collection.   Both FrUnc and proof coins are pleasing imo, although the field makes the latter my choice as worthy of a higher price. With a maximum mintage of 5,000 I will be interested to see how the proof Red fares in the market. I will be surprised if it has not proved a bigger success than its predecessor.

My second PCGS submission returned today. In general satisfied with the results, although I couldn't avoid one Details grade again. 🤔
A little curious about the French "CAISSE D'EPARGNE" medal, which was put in a large slab, without me asking for it. It is 45mm, so not sure if it was a mistake or didn't marginally fit in a normal slab.
Another issue is that they didn't grade some US medals, which I believe NGC will not have a problem to. But they graded all European medals, even some pretty unusual ones. Maybe it has something to do with the grading taking place in Europe instead of US (I use PCGS Europe). My plan is to be sending them all European medals in the future and anything oversized of course, I like these mid size slabs.
