I wonder if this coin will be on release to the public, or kept in the closet?

I think tolerance is a thing that everyone needs to be able to live in a diverse society. Nearly all the most tolerant people I know have a great sense of humour.... whether it's dry, dark or just plain silly. Humour is poked at just about anything or anyone. If you take that humour personally when it's not aimed at you directly and use it as way to point fingers and accuse people of something they're not then I would say that makes you intolerant. If you want to ban anything that doesn't suit your sense of humour (assuming you have one) then I would say that makes you intolerant. If you want to live in a tolerant and divers world where everyone can have their culture, beliefs and fun..... Then start with making yourself a more tolerant and open person. Diversity is the essence of this conversation right?

It would be lovely to live in a society of inherent empathy for all but we don't and I doubt we ever will. Expecting the world, online or off, to support you or anyone else  in the way you want it to never works. Inner strength and self reliance does, along with a rhino quality skin, mastering the art of the over head whoosh, and training your fingers to not respond to silly comments online. Not worth the aggro.

Despite you mocking my intelligence, which you have no knowledge of, my non binary 50p was a direct reply to another comment stating it was a 50p which identifies as a £5 coin.
I also stated I don’t have anything against anyone being who they are.

Humour is humour and can be directed to anyone, it has been that way for a long time.
are the only jokes about people now allowed towards straight white men ?
For what it is worth and to inform you, I have friends who are gay and we take the mick out of each other all the time. I worked in a gay pub for 2 years so probably have a far greater idea of what the community has gone through.
I am about the most tolerant person you will find, if my comments have been taken the wrong way or as anything but a light joke then that is YOUR problem.
the coin is sh@t and a blatant attempt at the royal mint to appear politically correct to appease all the squealers like you

Sharon I think you are way out of line here. No one is making fun of anyones beliefs.

Everyone is free to be what they want to be or believe what they want.
The other day I took the mick out of a Kate Middleton coin, doesn’t mean I am anti Royal (although that would be perfectly acceptable)
I honestly think you come on here from time to time to take offence at something.
As a side note, people are entitled to their own views and if that happens to align with more traditional values, for religious reasons or otherwise, who on earth are you to tell anyone they are wrong.
It’s a coin, Get over yourself Woman (or man, mix of both or what ever you ‘identify’ as)

It'll be a contender to compete with supposed 'coin of the year ' I'm sure after the crystal maze ' diversity ' coin (allegedly) won.
    Box ticked, box ticked
Another nail in RM coffin and brand value and recognition
    But but ' reasons '
Go woke, go broke it's as simple as that

I thought I had started a Topic for highlighting fake gold sovereigns, but seemingly not.
Here goes with a few more:

Obverse of a High Rim 1925 London Mint Sovereign

Reverse of a High Rim 1925 London Mint Sovereign

Niton Test Result for High Rim 1925 London Mint Sovereign.
First, the weight is too low for a minty looking sovereign, at 7.9366 grams.
The gold content is within normal range, as is the silver content.
Anyone who relied solely on an (expensive) Niton XRF tester would probably conclude this coin was genuine, but it would be  a rather stupid conclusion.
Using eyes and a brain, it is easy to see this coin looks too shiny, weakly struck, with some strange pock marks, and most of all, a slightly different appearance which is hard to pin down to any one single element. It is worth comparing this with a genuine 1925-L.
    Next:

Obverse of a 1931 South Africa Mint Sovereign

Reverse of a 1931 South Africa Mint Sovereign

Niton Test Result for 1931 South Africa Mint Sovereign
Again, the weight is too low at 7.9008 grams.
The gold content is just within range, as is the silver content.
These two coins were probably produced at about the same place and time. I should have paid a little more attention, but the person we bought these from said that his father or uncle had bought them brand new about twenty years ago
The 1931 is even more weakly struck than the 1925, but shares some charaacteristics.
Its reverse rim looks too wide, and is flattened, at the lower left side.

Well that should appeal to 1.5% of the population.... Can't wait to see the designs for one-legged Wellington boot testers or short shelf-stackers..
A truly remarkable time to be alive and a welcome addition to the world of numismatics.

TheMadKing reacted to LawrenceChard in Edge Serration Count on UK Gold Guineas
As a natural progression of our project to count the edge serrations on gold sovereigns, following on from Krugerrands, we just did our first Edge Serration Count on a UK Gold Guinea:

As you can see, the result for our 1777 guinea was 107 serrations.
Guineas have diagonal edge serrations / reed / grains / ridges, and they were mainly producing using an edge rolling device, rather than a retaining collar. This means the serration gap are not quite as regular, and could possibly vary from one coin to the next. Currently I don't know, but as we check mor coins, we will build up a better picture.
It is worth noting our photographer's comments:
"You requested that we include guineas in the serration shots.  Not easy - they are not evenly spaced and because my method works out the angle for each serration and then builds the lines around that when i do this on a guinea it looks as though I miscounted.  I triple checked the count and it is 107 (although they nearly melded into one at one point there was enough to make a calculated estimate where the serration was).  So the finished "grid" image has a look as though it could be wrong.  I doubt you want me to move them individually (maybe an hours work - they need rotating as well)  Just looking for some direction on future guineas please."
It's great to have a team member who will make sensible judgements on things like this.
More guinea serration count photos to follow in good time.

I can't thank @stefffanaenough for this coin, not only did he find it for me, he also held it till I got home from Wales, upgraded the postage at his expense and I strongly suspect made next to nothing on it. Cap all that the coin is stunning.
Thank you Stefan absolutely top chap to deal with.

Today I received this beautiful rarity courtesy of @SVcollector.
An 1894 Bulgarian 20 Leva (20 Franc, LMU equivalent - 0.1867AGW). 100,000 of these pieces produced at the Kremnica, Slovakia mint (one of the oldest existing mints in the world - it has produced coins continuously since the 1300s).
A very, very nice specimen of eastern European gold coinage that is difficult and expensive to locate in AU or above.
