Six coins came back from PCGS this week. I received the grades some time ago but PCGS closed shortly thereafter due to the US COVID-19 lock down and so understandably it’s taken a while for them to get to me. Lovely coins and some great results.

The 2019 Prince Albert and Queen Victoria strike on the day sovereigns both came in at MS70.
The 2019 proof sovereign was graded 70DCAM with the 2020 69DCAM.
The 50p shape of a nation 50p was graded 69DCAM. The lovely old 1900 Perth mint half sovereign was graded XF Details, you can’t win them all but still a lovely coin.

I have been obsessed with finding a way to  get the right capsules for my piedfort pounds  bought loose.
Managed to source Sovereign rings that fit Queens Beasts capsules. And love the way my mini hack worked!
    Look almost 3D.
Now to find the right box for them 😂

Nice morning of arts and crafts to try and fit the 45mm $5 Bahamas 1971 into a flip (max size 39.5mm) 😂 after about 2 hours and 20 flips later I have a (makeshift) solution but one that I can live with for now.
Whilst I don't normally chop up sets or collect BU coins, buying these coins circulated individually was so much more expensive than getting the whole set and the 4 silvers went in my world silvers folder, 2 animal coins went in my animal coins collection and the remaining 3 are offered for swap so there is little waste.
Been eyeing up these Bahamas coins for a while now and next seeking the 1966-1970 coins which are identical other than the obverse reading 'Bahama Islands' rather than 'Commonwealth of the Bahama Islands.' It's crazy to think that these coins were 'standard circulation' coins at least in theory, with the $5 containing 39g of pure silver- well over a Toz. It also features the then national motto for the Bahamas "Expulsis Piratis Restituta Commercia" ('Pirates Expelled; Commerce Restored') which I think is pretty cool.
These coins are absolutely stunning in design and minted at the Franklin Mint have an excellent finish. Even the non-silvers are fantastic coins.
Another country and 4 more coins added to the folder

Received  these from Baird mint today, I’m not a collector and not a fan of Queen’s Beasts at all, only bought these Beasts because Baird Mint’s prices were really good, £74 premium for a 24 carat 1oz coin is not bad at all in this corona virus situation.
But what I am very impressed with is the Young head sovereign because I paid £348 for an ordinary Young head sovereign but they sent me a Melbourne Mint young head sovereign 🤩, so that’s a nice little surprise, I see chards are selling Melbourne Mint young heads for £534.
also I must thank @Blehhhh for Recommending   Baird Mint, their prices are really amazing.

So today I'm a very happy silver junkie. My stunning smithy bars. 10oz and 5oz are a matt finish and the 4 and 3 are a shiny finish. Cant wait to get hold of more of his stuff later in the year.

Today I Received...a very interesting coin! (Via NGC - Which has had Conservation)
So, some time ago, I submitted a very ‘dodgy’ looking coin to NGC for grading....with a suspicion it would receive the dreaded ‘details’ grade.

But, I liked the coin, so off it went. Plus, I am trying to get all of my Una Libras graded. I have a very large briefcase to fill. (thanks to @ Gildeon)
So, here is the coin in a bit more detail..(before submission)

As you can see, there is quite a large area of what looks like olive coloured pitting, which also seems to be embedded into the surface of the coin. Despite a nice warm soapy bath, none of it would shift..I did try...carefully.
I also noticed another ‘error’ on the coin..

There is a distinct line above the first five letters of REPUBLIC..A Die-Crack maybe?
All in all..a pretty coin, but with ‘a lot going on’...not necessarily in a good way☹️!
The next piece of bad news arrives...
I receive notification that NGC suggest the coin goes through conservation,...the coin cost a little over spot, so the additional cost could be justified. I am then thinking, if it’s worth conserving, it probably isn’t going to get a details grade...but as a relative newbie to grading, I wasn’t really sure.
    Then..the big surprise...Today I get the coin back😃

WOW 🤩 !What a grade...but why not ‘DETAILS’?
My attention then falls on a subject not previously researched...MINT ERRORS...and STRUCK THROUGH.
(From NGC) The most common type of mint error may be a “struck through,” yet these are often misunderstood by collectors. Struck throughs occur when a piece of foreign material comes between the die and a planchet during striking. The coin is said to be “struck through” the foreign material, which leaves behind an impression on the coin’s surface.
    A little wiser I become.

As you can see from the picture above (post conservation) I think NGC conservation have done a great job in tidying up the area of ‘Struck Through’, if you compare back to the pre submission pics.
But have you also noticed something else which does not ‘sit right’?
The obverse of a coin is usually the ‘Heads’ side. And the mint error on this coin all relates to what would usually be the reverse, or tails side of a coin. Have NGC got this wrong?...Answer.....NO?
On an Una Libra, the head, an image of Manco Capac. (Believed to be the son of Inti, the Inca sun god) is the Reverse.
Preliminary reading suggests that the side of a coin which has the country of origin on it, as well as an image of a ruling monarch, or reference to a state/ government etc ..will be determined to be the obverse. In this case, the side with the state and country (REPUBLICA PERUANA LIMA) becomes the obverse.
Plus, Manco (whether he actually existed or not) would have died about 800 years ago, so was not a ruling monarch at any point in these coins history (1898-1969). I am sure there are other exceptions to this heads/ obverse rule...but this is my first!
    Thank you for reading.
    Addendum
Just when I thought I had figured out what was going on, I may have to have a rethink🤔.
On closer inspection of the reverse, I can see an area of interest..a rough surface exists in open field in front of Manco...now I am totally confused..one for the experts and that’s not me!

This arrived late afternoon yesterday, very happy with it, its a shame I cannot capture the lustre on this coin, it looks like scuffing in the pictures.
This is a Czechoslovakian 1937 dated 20 Korun made of .700 silver, this large coin was made to commemorate the life and death of the president of Czechoslovakia T٠G٠Masaryk, this coin was only made one year only and only 1,000,000 were minted, which is low for a circulating commemorative coin.
Currently the largest in my collection, bigger than (though lighter) than my British half crown.

Next to UK 50p for size comparison, only just noticed its one of the special ones.
