A few slabbed Rand coins. The dealer had a few more, including the rare 1983 piece but I was a bit late...
Anyway, there are no PF70s known, so I am quite happy with them. The difference between PF and PF Cameo is clearly visible but between Cameo and Ultra Cameo isn't.

U.S Gold octagonal 25 cents. Picked this up today, for some reason it's been on my wish list for a long time. California Gold, different denominations  up to $1, different manufacturers. Not officially recognised by the US government but accepted as currency for a while.
We are talking tiny here, if you look at the size of it in the slab. How any one kept track of these I dont know, but happy to own a little bit of US history

When spot was much lower I used to mine eBay for at spot or below scrap gold 9ct stuff. I hold it to trade usually as one dealer I work with lets me straight swap gold for gold which works out well when he has nice coins in.

Todays trades were for this lovey die no 7 shield sovereign, low mintage 1959 Sovereign and some nice Edward V11 sov and half sovs. All in all added decent premium for no extra cost.

1939 Proof Victoria Shield - PR62 (en medaille) - It is believed that the coins stuck in medal alignment match the Una and lion and therefore are from the coronation set.
This coin is undergraded in my opinion, I've got another PR62 that is nowhere near as nice as this, and seen other that are verging on "manky" and still got a PR62. It was obviously graded some time ago due to the old label

I have repatriated this 15th century treasure back to the UK from a superb US seller. The photos don’t do it any justice, its absolutely stunning and I’m very pleased!
For those interested, it is an Edward IV Gold Ryal or also called Rose Noble only minted between 1464 and 1470 and the year in that period identifiable by the mint mark in the legend, which on mine is a little difficult to ID but its a Long Cross Fitchée, if in any doubt (see the close up) there were no other crosses used in the period they were minted. This mark puts it as minted between 1469-1470, making it even rarer, only just before Henry VI was restored to the throne. On edwards second reign the mint started producing Angles which are entirely different design. The coin was minted in London, identifiable as no letter in the waves beneath the rose / kings vessel.
7.61grams of gold and approximately 35mm in diameter.
Side note: The coin was also imitated on the continent in the mint of Gorinchem for around 100yrs after this date (and also thought during Edwards exile in Belgium), these are often referred to as a “Flemish Ryal”.  Identifiable if put alongside each an original, one difference being the continental copy is often slightly larger in diameter.
NB, if anyone is wondering what the lump of dirty metal is in some of the photos, its an original brass coin weight for the Ryal that I was able to pick up from someone that had found it in the Thames mud. It was only a few pounds but I though makes a nice collection.
hope you like as much as me 😁

Not strictly LMU but another Napoleon 1812M 20 lire from Italy. New coin first and a bit cleaner! existing coin second.
I think the 1812M desigination on the holder of the new coin is incorrect and it is actually the variety with the second 1 over 0, both say 1812M which is fine for my original coin. Normally the underlying 0 is really quite obvious but there is a faint trace of it there but the more obvious difference is the distance between the 1 and 2 which is greater for the 1/0 varieties which are seen for most of the dates. Although this variety is in the reference books NGC have not certified any and PCGS have only certified a single example and that is AU50 - this coin is AU53 which I think is low and it should be AU55 when compared to other AU53's and AU58's. Now I just have to persuade NGC to change the label🤣 @Numistacker thoughts on mechanical error???
